The red on her wing was some red dye from one of her wood toys that got wet and she rubbed against it

Casper, how is your latest one getting on? Harvey at the moment is establishing his role in the household I would guess. As Clare said he's a bit agressive towards her and he was getting a bit of a handful for me but after going back to the books and the forum we've had a couple of productive evenings together and this morning he's been accepting treats off Clare only for good behaviour. Also we've decided that she will be the one to get him up from his sleep cage in the mornings as I always see him first in the evenings due to getting home from work earlier. He spends his days in the same room as Pippin our Cockatiel with the radio on and we're rotating his toys so hopefully he'll not become bored. He's muttered Hello or Hello Harvey probably half a dozen times since we got him so we may have a chatterbox in years to come as I understand that it can take them a year or more to talk if they talk at all.

Post edited by: harvey, at: 2008/10/18 10:22

They are brothers so they are very close. They cuddle up together, destroy their cardboard box house together. If one has to go to the vet then they both go because we don't want their bond to be broken and it could be if they were to spend a night apart. We were only meant to have Jasper, but when we went to pick him up the breeder told us that Magic's new owner couldn't make it, (They didn't think their car could make the journey) so after a couple of minutes of shall we shan't we it was decided we'd take him too . He was called Magic because he was supposed to be picked up by a magician and be part of his show!

That would be ideal, I'll see what I can come up with. Thank you.

The bunnies and Chipmunk have their own room. The bunnies have the run of the floor. They can be potty trained the same way as a Cat is, with a litter tray. They don't always get it right but they do try Chipmunks vary, some are very friendly and can be handled, some are less so but they are fun to watch as they play. I can handle Blitzen but she is very fast All they need really is a nice tall cage and if you let them out then something to climb up, curtains are popular. Feed wise I give mine Chipmunk mix, Nuts and fruit/Veg. I'll have to get a vid uploaded of her playing. Gavin

Post edited by: harvey, at: 2008/10/17 22:49

Hi Guys, I am hoping you can help as Harvey keeps attacking me and we are not sure how to solve the problem. Harvey has bonded really well with Gavin, and did so within the first few days of us getting him. We did everything with Harvey together as we were worried he would end up liking one more than the other. Then Gavin had to spend the day at home with him on the 3 day of us having him (I had to work) and ever since then Gavin is his preferred human and he has disliked me more and more. Harvey bites me (breaking the skin), lunges at me, if I sit close to him and Gavin he will fly at me (not in a I want to be with you way...it is attacking). If I touch his cage to give him a different toy he will fly at me and bite my hand. When Gavin is not there, I talk to him, give him treats, he will take treats from me, but I have to do it at just reaching distance as sometime he lunges. He will take foot toys from me, when he is in the cage, but again I have to do it at arms length as sometimes he lunges. If I have to remove him from anywhere I now do it with a perch, but he still tries to go for my hands This has happened so much I have become afraid if going near him on my own and petting him when Gavin is not around. How can we solve this? I am sure it is my fault for being nervous now, or I have done something wrong, but he has hurt me so may times now it is hard to go back. I want to have a loving relationship with him as well so at the very least I can take care of him when Gavin is not around, but at the minute all that is happening is I am becoming more and more afraid Any tips would be great! He is such a lovely bird and I am so glad I found him and bought him home to be with Gavin, I just hope I can have a relationship with him as well. Please help! Clare

Wow hello there Congo you're gorgeous!

Adorable Love the rope setup you've got going there.

I love animals so much, I should have been a vet or a farmer or something I get on with animals better than I do with most people -Gavin

Congo is one smart bird

I read that the photos don't have to be bird related in here so I thought I'd put the rest of the family up. We have two house Rabbits called Jasper and Magic and a Chipmunk called Blitzen. We're not really into the normal pet thing of Cats and Dogs, lovely as they are. I'd probably have a Pig if Clare would let me Here is Jasper (left) and Magic (right) Here is Blitzen, sorry it's a little blurred.

I think Clare took that one. We have a camera full of all our pets so we'll have to see if we can upload them this weekend.
-
We'll have a look at these links and see what we can come up with! Although Gavin is rubbish at making stuff...

Thank you all for the warm welcome

Well Pippin is pleased as punch to be getting attention too She is 2 years old, so thinks she can boss me about, with her screeching. Well I let her think that anyway, she is only small after all!
-
We have a nice big cage, a nice big play stand and a night/travel cage. The one thing I think we're missing is a smaller stand that Harvey can use to be near us when he can't actually be sat on us. Can anyone recommend a good smaller stand?

our other bird, so she doesn't get jealous!

Post edited by: harvey, at: 2008/10/16 17:32

Hello, Just introducing myself. I'm Harvey. I was born in May this year and I've been living with Gavin and Clare for a few weeks now. They thought it best to join a forum all about Greys for the good advice and as a place to share with and hear about experiences of other Grey owners.
