1. Thanks for all the replies. Ill try to source a more cost effective aloe juice from some local pharmacies. Ernie seems to be scratching a bit lately and I think this would help his dry skin.
2. Hi, I have just started reading this book about Alex the parrot and Irene Pepperberg. So far it is very good and I am really enjoying it. Just wanted to make everyone aware of it. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alex-Me-Scientist-Discovered-Intelligence/dp/0061672475/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1234867324&sr=8-2
3. Hi all, I have read on a few posts here that aloe vera juice is better to buy than the aloe vera gel. Many people have said WalMart is where you can get the juice. As we don't have WalMart here in Ireland I am wondering if someone could check the health shop link below and advise me if this aloe vera juice they sell would be suitable to put on my CAG for dry skin. http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=274 Thanks in advance Jason

Post edited by: Jason, at: 2009/02/17 11:30
4. Last night was a truly amazing night. Ernie learnt to shake hands with me on command. It started out like any other night and I did not plan on teaching him this. Heres how it happened. In the evening I usually eat a yogurt while watching Tv. Ernie as usual, is out of his cage from the time i get home from work. Last night he came to me and was extremely interested in trying the yogurt as he never had it before. I put some on my left finger and with my right hand I tapped his foot and said "shake hands". I then lifted his foot and immediately praised him and gave him some yogurt off my finger. Done this 5 or six times and now he can do it on command on his own. It really amazing and I just wanted to share this with you all. I am now going to teach him some more over the weekend.
5. Thanks again for everyone replies. you are all so kind. Ernie is doing great these days.
6. Ahh.. How nice.. Ill remember in future. Have a great weekend everyone
7. Sorry Everyone ...should have checked back and updated you all. Ernie is fine now. I think he was just having a quiet day. It never happened before though. The day after i posted he was back to normal, singing and acting crazy as usual. Thanks for all your concern and advice. this really is a great forum!!!!!
8. Thanks for the advice. He has eaten some sweetcorn and he is asleep in his cage now. Ill see how he is tomorrow. Thanks again
9. Hi, Maybe someone could give me some advice on Ernie, my 6 month old CAG. I am a bit worried that he might be ill. I came home from work today and for the last few hours he has been out of his cage and its like he is depressed or something. He is very quiet, usually he is so active and vocal. Today he has hardly said anything. All he wants to do is just sit on my shoulder. He does not seem to have an interest in anything. He seems to have eaten some of his food and his feces looks normal. Anyone have any ideas ?? or seen this behaviour before ?? Thanks in advance Jason
10. Hi Everyone, I am looking to find my little Ernie`s (Africian Grey) 2 brothers or sisters. I bought him a few weeks ago in Copsewood Aviaries in Dublin. There was him and 2 of his brother/sisters in the cage when I chose him. Just wondering if anyone of here has either of the other 2 as it would be great to see pictures of them. Cheers Jason
11. I think i am just lucky. He is so tame and I think he trusts me so much. When I put the hats on for the photo, I just told him to stay still and he did. I was amazed.
12. Sorry, the photos did not work. But they should be viewable now.
13. Here are 2 pictures of Ernies new hat, made from a milk bottle top. He likes these hats very much Post edited by: Jason, at: 2008/10/19 14:53

Post edited by: Jason, at: 2008/10/19 14:54
14. Hey All, Just posted the first pic of Ernie as my profile. Hes chillin out on a cushion in this pic. We just found out last week from a DNA test that he is actually a boy, although somehow we knew this already.
15. A warm welcome to you Caz. Hope to hear more from you and Alfie. Cheers Jason
16. Welcome Brittany. I am also new to this forum and brought my little African Grey home 2 weeks ago.
17. Hi Everyone, Thanks for all your welcomes and advice. Ernie is my first African Grey but I also have two cute lovebirds. To answer some peoples questions, I am from Dublin. I will take some photos of little Ernie this weekend and I will post them. Thanks again
18. Hi all, Just found this forum a few days ago and its great. Lots of useful information. Two weeks ago I bought a baby African Grey and named him Ernie. He was about 13 weeks old then. When I brought him home, he was a bit unstable when navigating his cage and cried during the night. Now two weeks on and he is moving around his cage and the living room like he knows everything I cant believe how intelligent he is. When I come home from work around 5, I take him out of the cage and he stays out, playing with me and his toys until about 11 or 12. Recently he has started babbling to himself, trying to imitate sounds. He has picked up a weird UFO type sound , which I think came from a cartoon on the television and it sound so cool. Anyway just wanted to intoduce myself and say hi. Best Wishes Jason
