This is the love of my life Raine E Bird. she is a green cheek conure aka a snuggle monster! She is just the most wonderful companion, and has so much character!! I am getting a new grey soon and I am worried that my baby will change. Any tips on how to help her be okay with the new baby? I know that I should be careful to greet her first, and give her out of cage time first, but is there anything else that I should be doing to get her ready? We will be bringing home our baby in January or early Feb. so he/she will be 16 weeks or so. I told the breeder that I was not set on any sex but that I would rather have an outgoing ,personable bird. The breeder is about 6 hours away(sometimes living in Montana stinks), so we will not get to meet our baby before they come home. I have been reading up here and everywhere I can,so I think I am ready! Any tips for the long drive home?

Just put a deposit on our baby! It feels so real now, still trying to pick a name, here's what we have so far: For a male: Kuzko(like the emperor's new groove) Merlin, or Earl for a female: Calypso or Belle Any votes? I cannot wait to bring home my baby!!

I heard again from the breeder and several babies hatched a week ago. She will pull them soon and then we will put down a deposit! i am so thrilled!!!It has been a long year of waiting and finally we will get our baby!! :) :) :) :)

I will be getting a grey in January(hopefully) and I was wondering how early did you all start buying things in preparation for your baby? Because I totally want to go and buy a cage and everything RIGHT NOW!!LOL I am so impatient:P Also does anyone have any insight on the best way to transport a baby such a long way(the breeder is 6 hours away) without causing too much trauma?

Wow thank you for the warm welcome, I am pleased to report that I just heard from a breeder who is 6 hours away and she has eggs!! I am second on her waiting list so if all goes well I will have a baby in January!!!*happy dance*

I am working on getting a grey, unfortunately there are no breeders in Montana(at least none that advertise or that anyone seems to know about)so we will be going to Washington or Idaho.
