Thank you very much for your informative reply ,it's a relief to know that that's a normal behavior ,i though that the fact that i'm the one who hand-reared him ,he's now trying to disattach himself from me as his parent and trying to find a new mate ,it'll be really disappointing as i'm the only one who interacts with him and the only one he allows to get near him and handle him another question does that mean that he'll get used to me wearing these colors and patterns by time or i just have to wear what he likes?

Hi all, I have an 8 monthes old congo african grey ,that i hand fed since he was 45 days old,i'm feeling he's getting more and more scared of many things around him,lately he started scared of me personally to the extent that he tries to fly away and flap his wings around the cage and this happens when i wear something colored or with strips he acts as if he don't even know me,but when i'm wearing a white tshirt or no tshirt atall he's completely normal and cool, some other thing he sometimes bites very hard specially when he's playing with a toy he's very agrressive with toys and when i talk to my wife he bites me very hard and even flies at me attacking me ,anyone have a clue what could be wrong with him specailly the part of not knowing me when i wear certain clothes

can u share the recipe of your mash please? my koko is unfortunately sunflower seed addict i can't get him to accept pellets atall

Thank you all for your sweet words i really appreciate your support, and jotoeng i will keep you updated all the time, he's now standing on the perch most of the time and he climbs around the cage frequently he is also flying alot but i had to clip a couple of feathers on each wing because he seems not able to control his landing and once he bumped into the wall and injured his face ,so to be safe i clipped those feathers ,he 's still abel to fly but for short distances and not too high, it seems that he turned out to be left handed so he's not able to use his leg to grab things he's trying but still can't do it ,but it's not handicapping for him atall

I decided to name him koko ,today he perched for the very first time ,uptill now i though that he has no control over his deformed leg but surprisingly this morning i went into the room to find him standing on his perch for the very first time and i looked at his leg to find him holding the perch with it !!!!!!!!!!! he walks near to normal but he has a minor limp ,i though it's nice to share the good news with all and thank you all for your support and here are koko's pics first day of perching

Well, i tried it with SunConures ,Cockatiels , Senegals and even Budgies and it's amazing ,it's designed in a way that the poop is collected in the pouch designed for it and never touches the skin or even the feathers of the bird , i kept it for as long as 6 hours and never found any trace of poop on th bird's feathers, the main problem's that sometimes the bird's are annoyed with it and starts to chew on it but they soon forget about it and continue what they were doing,but the main drawback is the fact that the bird has to get accustomed to it at a very young age i start introducing it to them even before they are completely feathered ,but getting an older bird accustomed to it is a real challenge cause when they are introduced to it in older age they hate it , that's my own experience and i though i'd share it with you all,i never tried it on a grey ,but i will with my baby and let you know what's the results.

I agree but what about the bird's poop ? ,i mainly use it to protect my clothes and furniture.

I was worried about the swelling ,but he assured me it's not swollen ,it's the deformity ,the bone is thicker than the normal bone and it's bowed in the wrong direction.

Well, I've taken him to the vet today and he said it's a congenital deformity ,most probably his toes wont be functional, and at this age he wont be able to tolerate anesthesia for surgery as it'll be more than 3 hours surgery and even if he do the surgery the prognosis wont be good,he said that the baby's health is very good and that he will be able to live a healthy life and he'll manage to behave normally with the healthy leg. Thank you all for your support ,by the way he doesn't have a name yet,do you have any suggestions?

Hi everybody, I wonder if anyone of you tried the avian fashions flight suit and bird diaper with your grey?, i want your feedback regarding this issue, I've tried it before with all my birds including cockatiels , sun conure and senegal parrot ,and I've noticed that they get used to it only if it's introduced to them at a very young age,but i wonder how's it like with the grey?

are u sure it's splayed leg?,i had lovebirds before with splayed leg and the whole leg was flat and extended to the side from the hip joint, with my grey he moves his leg and stands on it and the hip joint is in it's place ,i'll try to post some pics tomorrow.
