hehehehe. No Tigerlily doesn't litterally sit there scraping away at my nose, boy that'd hurt but she does try sticking her tounge up there. one minute we're there giving eachother kisses then her tounge sneaks up:kiss:

Tigerlily was a little clumsy to begin with, crash landing on perches and gripping on curtains and banging into mirrors and floors cause she couldn't orientate herself. Every time she crashed somewhere i just calmly went to her and got her to step up which she did. Thats all I did. Now there's no stopping her. She'll fly out of my bedroom take a left turn whilst hovering and fly into the living room and onto her cageB) she's constantly flying to and from places but with that comes the flying to places she's not supposed to be and me having to get up and move her, only for her to fly there again, and again, and again:evil: i'm sure she just finds in entertaining:evil: Tigerlily also used to be VERY brethless after flying round the room once or twice. she still gets quite brethless but not as much. I've just put it down to lack of exercise but don't know for sure, i'm no expert! So i'm sure Baxter will get the hang of it eventually;)

ok i'm just gonna throw this one out there and probably gross everyone out BUT......... Does your grey pick YOUR nose:whistle: Come on, don't be shy:)

yep i also went back to work a few months after i had tigerlily. I knew i would be returning to work soon after i brought her ( i borrowed money from my nan so i could get her sooner for that very reason;) ) With that in mind I left Tigerlily alone for a few hours quite quickly after getting her so she would get used to being alone and built up the time away. Now i work full time and shift work and Tigerlily is fine by herself then when i come home, i'm all hersB)

hi and welcome. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun together I believe that if a grey has chosen to bond with you it is one of the highest privaliges you could ask for. I'd do anything for my baby and have only just found this site and found it to be a great place to chat and LEARN!!!B)

My work collegue told me that her grey started plucking when they moved so i was terrified when i moved 2 months ago. (but she's not devoted to her grey which prob didn't help either) plucking is my worst fear. But Tigerlily was absolutly fine. she's still a baby so that helped and we've bonded really well so that helped, once in my new flat she orrigianly moved to the bedroom so it'd be less stressful for her (less boxes and commotion) then to the living room for a week. then i had to move her out again to paint. she was a little scared of the colour when i moved her back into the living room but nothing major. In all i must say that the cat was worse than the bird, she kept me up all night for the 1st two. I also let her see what was going on, some people say to cover their birds so they get less stressed but i though it was important for her to see what was happening and see that i was with her all the way.

Yep Tigerlily goes for my hair too. I was beginning to think it was grooming but still don't like her doing it so she gets told to stop once then if she does it again its calmly back on her pearch.

I taught Tigerlily to whistle The Great Escape. she's almost got it

You should have seen me the other week! Tigerlily didn't seem to be playing with her toys that much so I decided it was time to strip her cage and restock it. I spent over £100 on toys online. they arrived in this great big box and I was like a little kid, giggling and trying to engage tigerlilies enthuisam who this time didn't fly off and shreak the place down and actually tried playing with them as I was taking them out the box. I had great fun positing them in her cage. I'm still not sure who parrot toys are really for, Tigerlily or me;)

 :cheer: I know lol. I'm terrible with money, if i have it i have to spend it and i luv spending it on my pets. i've just moved (which tigerlily coped with very very well) and i still need carpet, wardrobes, shower etc etc etc but will be getting a new playstand and travel cage first. i can live without a carpet and all the rest but tigerlilies life will improve soooo much with a travel cage and new playstand that she just HAS to take priority

Taking greys outdoors...is the breeze a problem?
Tigerlily replied to matt314159's topic in The GREY Lounge
I'm saving up my hard earned pennies to buy a travel cage for my grey so she can go outdoors. at the moment she's stuck indoors and isn't used to any weather but when i blow on her she hates it (which i find amusing:evil: ) but i believe that when she gets used to going outdoors and being in the sun, wind and occasional rain it'l do her the world of good. I cant wait and am even going to risk the odd looks i'm going to get from the public walking around with a grey in a cage lol. -
Hi and welcome. I have to agree with whats allready been said that i was supprised to read that you've been able to touch him allready. I'm also a new grey owner and new to this forum and am quickly learning and often need reminding that greys need sooo much encouragment, praise and positive interactions. I started punishing my grey for flying onto the top of room doors (not safe cause of wires) by forcing her to step up and put her back in her cage and firmly telling her off which for a few days worked. then she started being aggressive if i tried getting her down cause she knew what was comming and she bites quite hard when she wants. I realised that being harse with her wasn't the answer and started calmly asking her to step up, praising her when she did and put her back on her pearch. she still protests a little but just to let me know she'd rather be up there. (she just keeps me fit getting up to get her down) I'm constantly learning and the key with greys is patience and trust and by the sound of it, you're grey is quickly learning to trust you and i'm sure you'll be best friends b4 long.

I've decided that when my work collegue gets back from holiday I'll just say that i'm more than happy to look after her if she goes away again. maybe she might take me up on the offer.

Thanks thats exactly what it looks like! the colour before it came away was brown/bone colour. unfortunatly i don't have a picture. yesterday i thought it was about time i took some decent pics of tigerlily then remembered that seeing as i've just moved i have NO idea where my camera is

Hi. when this first happened I was quite worried and imediatly took Tigerlily to the vet who gave her some vitamin tablets after checking her over and after a more recent visit the vet seems to be happy with her beak but can't give a definate answer to why this happened. any ideas? At first tigerlilies beak started to brown on the tip then a fair amount of top layer flaked off leaving her with a ridge, kinda like the parrot on the header of this site. The ridge has got a little less noticable, so asuming she's had some regrowth but looks like it might be browning a bit again.

WOW that really is an amazing playstand. Tigerliles getting by with a simple wooden one till i can afford the parrot tower as this seems to be the best option out there at the moment in my humble opinion (i'm no good at making things lol). looking out for a site in the U.S that will post to the UK as the exchange rate is very much in my favor at the moment:lol:

Thanks for all your replies. i've been at work all afternoon so haven't been able to reply sooner. I was pleasently supprised to find that the NHS hasn't blocked this site like sooooo many others so i've been able to quickly read your messages at work but feel it would be pushing it a bit too far if i replied as big brother over at the tech dept is always watching us and i don't want them to block the site:evil: After a comment LOVEMYGREYS made on my other thread about silence in the wild meening there's a predator around I went and spent £40 on a radio and another £25 on another foraging toy:S so much for me being a millionaire one day:pinch: Tigerlily better apprieciate it lol.

Hi everyone. Title says it all really;) Looking for people in the Bristol area UK who enjoy talking about their greys as I have no friends:( I have a work collegue who inhereted a grey a few years ago and was really excited when I found out but unfortunatly she doesn't seems that interested in her grey. When i asked how much time her grey spends out the cage she asid that it doesn't come out the cage cause its too visious! Luckily I held back the reply "why do you think that is?" If she wasn't a work collegue I might have challenged her in trying to tame her but i'm new to the job and she's above me. SO unfortunatly I'm left with no one to talk about my grey to:( So, anyone in the Bristol area?
-
i've just started her on foraging toys and waiting for pay day to get her some more (having spent over £100 on toys last month! ) i'd seen a few parrot sitter dvd and weren't too sure they'd work but after reeding some stuff on here i'm more inclined to give them a go. she doesn't seems to pay too much attention to the tv and i rarely listen to the radio myself but tigerlily might take a liking to it lol
-
unfortunatly i live alone and work full time and i am petrified of her starting to pluck hence all the toys. i was also thinking of leaving her out her cage whilst i wasn't there but didn't get to be brave enough before my vet put a end to that idea when after the asking if tigerlily was kept in her cage whilst i wasn't home the vet replied "good" cause she'd get up to mischieve if let out;)

Hello everyone. My name is Elaine and I am the proud owner of a CAG called Tigerlily. Tigerlily hatched on 9th June 2007 and she has been with me since Dec 2007 and if everything goes to plan this will be her first and last home. Tigerlily is the first bird i've had and i love her to bits. I also have a 4yr old cat who Tigerlily would eat for lunch given the chance:evil: I live alone so the two of us have bonded really well (she had no choice lol) but because of this Tigerlily doesn't apprieciate people visiting, which isn't too much of a big deal at the moment. I'm also desperate for her to accept her avaitor harness which isn't going too well atol. I'm trying to hold off the be cruel to be kind approach as I know this would traumatise her and I would end up with no fingers left:evil: After a few months we're at the stae where i can hold the harness up to her without her flying off and screeming the place down. I'm trying not to give up but it's hard to imagine the end result when it takes so long. But on the whole I think Tigerlily's doing great, she has her moments when she gets too boistrus and she gets put in her cage to calm down for half hour and she refuses to get off the top of the door frames when asked, forcing me to get off my backside and get her to step up, which she does with a little protest. hopefully this will be the start of a happy relationship. P.S anyone here from the UK?
