  2. Hi Everyone, Alfie is doing great he flies to my wife's head:woohoo: and has stopped crash landing as much as he was. I have booked Alfie in to the Vet for a microchip to be inserted. Has anyone taken their Parrot for this procedure and what was the reaction if any? Steve:)
  3. Caroline, Alfie's cage has a playtop so he could land ok, we have plenty of soft furnishing so hopefully he would be fine.
  4. Hi Caroline, His hatch date was 16th May 08 Steve
  5. Hi everyone hope you are all well. I have posted a couple more pictures of Alfie, he is doing amazingly well and is already a treasured member of our family. He makes cute little noises and is learning not to bite when told "NO" He is trying to gain the confidence and strength to fly, this does worry me a little bit. as I have not been around a baby grey before, I am aware of the dangers when he is learning to fly but any advice would be welcome. Regards Steve
  6. Having just gotten Alfie home thought I would check out the baby section. Alfie is making cute sounds and preening while sitting on me. I am assuming that he feels comfortable, I know I do:P Steve
  7. Hi everyone, We have collected Alfie :woohoo: and he is settling in well. I cannot believe how quickly he has adapted to his new surroundings. I will post some photographs later in the week. Regards Steve

  9. Caroline, Glad you like the memorial, George will always be our first "baby" he will forever be in our hearts, but at least we can still sit with him and it's strange, but that fountain attracts so many species of wildlife especially birds! Steve

  17. Hi everyone, I can't thank you all enough for your kind words and thoughts. 24 hours on and it's no better, I couldn't sleep last night and all the family are devistated. I have cleaned his cage and toys and have had to move them in to the garage as I cannot bare to look at them. We have decided to have a small water feature in the garden in memory of George. People have asked if I wiil get another grey but I can't think about it at the moment. I'll visit the site to see how you are all getting on even if I don't post. Thanks again. Steve:(
  18. Hi everyone, I am writing this with tears filling my eyes. My beloved George finally lost his fight for life today at 5:30PM He tried so hard to overcome his illness but was to weak to continue. Thank you all for your support. Sorry I haven't posted more regularly but I have not had time. Regards Steve :( :(
  19. Hi Guys, just thought I would post an update on George. He is not doing so good, I have just weighed him and he has lost 15g in the last week. He has not been eating very well at all in the past couple of days and he sleeps for long periods. I have another appointment at the vet on the 3rd April, but I am not sure that I will wait that long. Steve:( Gutted at the moment
  20. I'm not offended honest, I do give him cores (deseeded) straight from my mouth, I understand what you are saying but I have had him for 10 years without any problems from foodstuff. His current ill health is as a result of a respiratory problem associated with his air sacks and lungs. He goes through this around every eighteen months or so. As you can see from his photo he is in pretty good shape even if unwell at the moment. I do value your experience and will stop giving the cores without using a knife. Steve
  21. Thanks again for the welcome. George is ok at the moment sleeps a lot but is doing fine. Has his meds three times a day which includes antibiotics nebulisation. I weighed him last night and he had gained around 33 grams since last week. current weight is 433g he was 570g so he has lost a lot of weight. He is a fussy eater and will not touch normal veg some fruit and apple cores that I have finished with! He isn't very vocal at the moment but does say "Love you" now and again so can only assume he does! Not sure where to post the reply so hope I haven’t broken any rules by posting it in the welcome section. Thanks for asking after him, I will keep you posted. Steve:)
  22. Hi everyone, Thanks for a great welcome following my post about insurance. My name is Steve and I have a CAG who goes by the name of George. He is not very well at the moment although he is making progress. He is around 12 years old and I have had him for 10. He is not hand tame but is a brilliant vocalist. He says things completely in context which people who do not know parrots and meet him, find amazing. George was poorly treated before he met us and I think this is why he isn't hand tame. Look forward to posting. Steve:)
  23. Hi does any one have to nebulise their parrot daily? My Congo African Grey, George has to be nebulised three times daily using a medication/disinfectant known as F10 prescribed by the avian vet. He is also currently receiving antibiotics, as he has a respiratory problem. My insurers have also written to say they will no longer cover Georges vet bills for anything to do with his respiratory system but they still want the same premium. Is this normal? Steve
