I went to see him today, I have decided which one I will be getting after holding all of them. He has 6 little tiny tail feathers coming in, mostly feathered on his head, somewhat on his wings and fluff everywhere else. I believe I will name him Opie or Dexter. Here is his 5 week old Picture

Post edited by: ClaireBear, at: 2008/04/14 06:09

I own a male Vos Ekkie. The females are known to be more aggressive as they are the nest protectors and they choose the mates. This is not always the case. The males do tend to be more laid back and easy going and seem to speak better. Eclectus have very specific dietary needs that are much different than most parrots. The have a much longer digestive track than any other birds and sometimes are very sensitive to pellets (can lead to toe tapping, picking, and wing flapping) My eclectus eats no pellets except a little bit of zupreem here and there. They are extremely sensitive to dyes and some foods. So if you are ready to cook quite a bit as they eat 75% fresh %25 dry food, then they are great. They are not known to be cuddly birds but are very happy to just hang out with you. My male is 1 1/2 yrs old and a quite extensive vocabulary (if you look down at my popular posts there is a link to his youtube video) His name is Cash. If you want to PM me I can answer a lot more of your questions and guide you to a few specialty Eclectus only sites that give you tons of valuable information. Hope this helps

Post edited by: ClaireBear, at: 2008/04/12 21:24

Why don't you upload it to youtube and add the link here? I believe that you can upload MP3's to YouTube

the band should have a few letters and going the opposite was 2 numbers. Cash (my ekkie) his says LWA136 which means he is from Lake White Aviaries and was the 136th bird hatched that year. Going the opposite direction is says 06 meaning he was hatched in 2006. Thats all I know, hope it helps!

I believe that this is the one I will be getting, I don't want to hold them up too much from getting reservations on the other 2, so I must decide soon!

My boyfriend and myself work at a die cutting firm owned by his parents. We manufacture steel rule dies and have the machines that run them. Our customers are printers and we do the cutting, folding, and glueing of the pieces. We do folders, stickers, table tents (the things you see at bars and restaurants), door hangers, shelf talkers (the ads at the grocery stores), and we also specialize in "tipping" which is inserting items like cds/dvds into packaging and we tip credit cards and things like that onto packing with "Booger glue" Thrilling, I know! I personally do estimating, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll! The best part is that I have the ability to bring my dogs or birds to work as I wish!!!!:woohoo:

I voted, and not for myself!

I should be able to visit as much as I want, the breeder is only about 1/2 hr. from me and they are so nice and said that I could come as often as I like! I will try to go 1 time a week so that I can see their personalities develop. I hope that I can wait to choose which one I want. I have first pics but they have other people who want the other 2 so I don't know when I will have to decide! I am most attracted to the largest one but probably b/c he is the most developed (He hatched 2 days before the others)

lovemygreys - there are 3 in the clutch for me to choose from, that is the one I like most so far, but who knows, they have a lot of growing to do still!! Thanks everyone, I am really excited to watch him/her grow!

Thanks all! His cage was actually only like $400 on Ebay (expensive but not bad compared to other small ones) It does take up a ton of room but I live in a split level so have a living and family room (they claimed the family room). Judi - Yeah, you know then how LOUD suns can be. He thinks he is talking too. He says a few things but I think he'd rather just scream! lol

First video i have made of my 1 1/2 yr. old eclectus talking. I swear that the noisy conure shuts up after about 45 seconds!!

She is TINY!! What a little mouse

Let's see a picture of her!

My female is 3 1/2 lbs Full grown. My male "the misfit" we call him is 5 lbs. too tall, too thin, too big of ears for a "proper" chi. We love him nonetheless.

Thanks!
