2. i second joe on that...you cant cancel every plan

have you looked over at craigslist..your local classifieds? Vet...they have pet sitters all over our newpapers..just look around or tell me your location and ill help theres soo many pet sitters out there i baby sat our neighbours cat when she was away for christmas...infact during holidays...christmas or summer holidays that is...you are bound to see hundreds of qualified professionals who baby sit pets for a living and have refrences too..ask your neighbours, friends or family members 2 weeks is not a long time.. and your parrot will be so excited when you come back...

  3. welcome to the fourm Shamelessmuse ..lol love the name i think your doing the right thing by letting it settle first and set its on pace..i am more than sure greyce will pick up on you not being a threat but it might take a while ''being moved around for three times'' really kudos for you on resucing the poor bird and looking around to see you more often in the fourm ..ask away any questions people here are so nice youll feel right at home...also u should post a pic of grecye we'd love to see it

  6. i second tari the birds at petsmart look like they wanna commit suicide ''they look sick too'' i read this story of this girl who bought her bird with her to a petstore like petsmart and her bird ended up getting sick..by the way did he stay on your shoulder was he moving around being nervous? i think thats cool though if he was behaving good in public i wanna train my young one when i get it to be always around me at public places

  7. thanks! im pretty much in the same boat its hard to find a breeder in my province i only found one that breeds greys..theres alot of other breeders but they dont specialize in greys..so im currently on 2 waitlists one whos in my province 10 hours away..the other one is in a diffrent part of canada but i heard good things about them ..thier babies are vacinated sexed at no additional cost thyre taught a few simple commands socialized with thier kids and pets heres an example of a good breeder http://www.onafricanwings.com/ourbabies.htm

  8. no problem..antohyer thing might be is that he can read your body language and he sees that your stressed and sad but he doesnt know why so hes nervous..try to approach him in a happy mood im sure that counts...my cat seems to always want to be around me when im sad..youd be surprised

  9. hey there buddy...your the 3rd new member from austrailia this week! wow welcome to the fourm your not the only member having problems finding a grey over there apperantly rachel and the other guy are having problems too i would sugest posting an ad or something? and screening the people who contact you

as for the ad online..i was looking on the website Kijiji.com for ads and i ran across this one ad for 200 dollers african grey that was 2 years old..i contacted the person and he/she replied in french ''i know a little bit french and could read'' basically the story was not the same as the one on the website..the person turnd out to be living in africa close to nigeria..said the weather was not good for the bird..said they had the papers but cant scan it said she had garanteed health from the vet ''which is obv a myth no vet would garantee a birds health on paper because that can bring bad name to them risk of the bird getting sick later'' alot of things didnt match up..and i declined and they replied back rudely just be careful..i sugest looking online contact breeders and meet up with them

Post edited by: Abdullah, at: 2008/01/20 07:53

  10. oh no kllorio your not that reason for this! i was just sugesting because other sections of the fourm had the same problem... the reason im posting this is because i belonged to this other fourm where alot of people had the same problem and after a year the admin was asking us for donations coz the server was overloaded

  11. greys tend to bond with one person, dont worry heres what you can do first of all you cant help it shes more bonded to him ..so you need to win her approvel the old fashoined way ignore the biting hissing what have you..find out whats her fav treat is..and give her that ..be the treat person be around the cage often show her that you can be as much fun as ur partner..shell get around although she might still fav him over you but she will get around like being more tolrent towards you ..greys are also suckers for attention im sure in no time she want both of u guy's attention and more lol hope this helps...by the way giver her a week or so to settle into her new place

  12. yah JP im glad you took the time to read the posts of the other members..please understand that we're not attacking you just trying to inform you...i think you should stick around and learn or read about them thyre still fascinating creatures..maybe after a while youlld be able to make time for a bird and who knows it might be the best thing u did as they can be very rewarding to having them around..good luck buddy ;)

  13. hey there so sorry about max but i recall someone who said thier grey was going through the same thing and turned out to be molting...kay give me sometime ill look up the thread and post it here...if toys dont help for the time being try this thing called forging where u hide food in his cage and he looks for it..it helped some members so u might wanna look into that..do u see the search feature on the top type forging kay my spelling might be wrong but i hope it helps
