  1. Hey charliesmum: You are very dedicated and I admire your love for birds. Glad you're on the site and look forward to hearing more from the UK. Mazy & Bruce
  2. shelmae: Gomez sounds like he loses some security in his space when you enter it. It is important they have a secure feeling when in their cage. Try just opening the door and leave him alone. He then has the choice to come out when he wants. He may not choose to for several days and wonder why the door is open. Eventually he will check it out. When he does for the first few times, you may even consider not approaching him just to let him know it's alright to come out on his own and shouldn't feel any insecurity. If he shows any anxious behavior with the door open, close it and try again the next day. Be patient, and over time it may help. Bruce & Mazy
  3. Today I let Mazy out of her cage at 9am after it got light. She refused to shovel the snow and made me do it. So I put her back in her cage at 9:05. At 10am I let her out of her cage but had to put her right back in when she again refused to split firewood. Around 11 I decided to give her some fun time out in the water but she refused to do the dishes so back she went. At noon I asked her if she wanted out for some lunch, and she said "sure". All she did was make this huge crumbly mess on the counter and floor, ate the last of the chicken and then had the audacity to tell me to clean it up. Needless to say in the cage she went. At 1pm I asked her if she wanted to play a game. She ignored me and put her head under her wing and made a farting sound. Later dude! At 3pm she is now demanding to come out so she can watch Andy of Mayberry, but she wouldn't let me sit on the same sofa with her, and wouldn't give me a pillow. but I got her ....I switched over to the golf channel. She walked over the top of the sofa and back into her cage. At 4pm she wanted a snack and headed to the fridge without permission so back she went. At 5 it was dinner call, but when she got onto my plate at the counter she was mad at the menu, just laughed and walked back to the cage. At 7pm she wanted a shower but complained about the blow dryer not being hot enough. At 8pm she came out and up to me. I asked, "Now what do yoo want?" She said "I love you" and went back to her cage to bed..... Just joking...... Mazy can open and close her cage when she wants as it isn't latched, except at night, and when there's too much excitement in the house. Other than that she makes that decision. Bruce & Mazy
  4. Matt I am compelled to pass on my sentiments, admiration, and applause. I will only comment and reaffirm PATIENCE, on your behalf. I share all said by dblhelix, judygram, lovemygreys, danmcq, and FairY. There aren't too many people who would take in a bird in such condition, and you sir are one of them. These people posting above and so many others on this forum are of the same in this. I think it really shows what a special place we have. Keep Up the good work we're there for you. Bruce & Mazy
  5. Welcome sexything. I look forward to more on you and your birds. I'm sure you'll find this forum a right friendly and informative place where grey lovers gather. See ya out there Bruce & Mazy from Alaska
  6. Hey from Alaska MBW: You've got my curiosity up but there's not much to go on. I'm with lovemygreys and judygram maybe you can tell us a little bit more about you and your bird(s). Pictures always work. Most all your answers lie within the knowledge of these bird owners. Don't hesitate to ask. See you out there. Bruce & Mazy
  7. Abdullah: Good to continue to hear from you. Man, Karma seems to be really telling you that a grey may be in your future. A glorious cage without a bird in it?????? Judygram is right. Give it time. Be patient. You may see many birds on your quest for this new lifetime friend, be sure you WILL know when it is the right bird at the right time. Yes, I know these birds Peregrine Falcon. Funny my given birth name is "Falconer". Good luck on this journey and keep us all posted. Bruce & Mazy
  8. In Mazy's part of Alaska there is only 2 hours of dusk in the summer, so we cover. In winter we make sure there is a very low light they can see through the cover so they can move around the cage if they want or if they fall , can get back to their sleeping perch. Bruce & Mazy
  9. That's easy for me, where I live in the remote Alaska we can't get cell service. lol Bruce & Mazy
  10. Tracy: Happy Birthday from Alaska: What a great day today and a wonderful year to reflect on. Great pictures, I know as I did everyone whos sees them is going Ahhhhh! If you think you're a pest then I must be a pain in the butt. lol! This is the reason we are all here. We are drawn together by our love for our greys and are excited to share this love with the others. Keep posting. Bruce & Mazy
  11. Birdstoolove: Since you've said you're a businessman and you're in it to make money, I say NO! As you can see from what others have written, there are many many variables which must all line up and succeed at each stage. As a businessman your risk assessment has been done for you by all the comments given. It is not a good risk. It has to be a love of the birds before it can become any form of money you may be lucky to see as a result. As your friend may say he knows about birds, I question his knowledge simply by the fact that he says you can make money from them. Again, this is not true Has he ever even had a grey? Statistically speaking your odds of making money are not good. Do you still consider this a good business decision? If you insist on moving ahead with this you should first get educated about the greys specifically, and then spend a good amount of time with one before you make a a commitment as huge as you're thinking. If you are the businessman you say I'm sure you'll change your mind. Bruce & Mazy
  12. Welcome to Ameen & Sameera from Alaska: Great happenings to you and your new baby. She is a young one, don't rush the weening. See you out there. Bruce & Mazy
  13. Welcome Tasha: Lots to learn here and great folks to learn it from. Good luck with the birds. Bruce & Mazy
  14. Welcome from Alaska Abdullah: You are taking all the right steps in your research. Greys are a big commitment and require a lot of attention. That's cool that your dad bred eagles. What kind were they. I live in Haines where we have the largest gathering of bald eagles in the world from October till January 3 miles from our home. Good luck and I'm sure you'll find a reputable breeder in B.C. This forum is not as others. These are good knowledgeable people willing to help. See you out there. Bruce & Mazy
  15. Hey Sunny & Amy: Judygram hit it on the head. Read through the threads. I spent 4 days as a guest just going through all the threads that seemed relevant to me for my relationship with my CAG. Stepping up is easily answered for you. Do a search on the threads in the African Grey Forum. These people on this site are an invaluable resource so have fun learning about your new best buddy. See you out there Bruce & Mazy PS If you don't see it ask about it. You'll get an answer.

    advice-

Welcome Lynnr: You've come to the right place for advice from people who know and care. All I can say is SLOW and PATIENCE. (I'm just following Dave007 and Reta around the forums so I can learn more)lol Good Luck Everything will be fine Bruce & Mazy
  25. Alicianicole: You're situation has been very helpful to me. I also have a female 13 yr. CAG. As Dave said there was this exact situation last night with another member. I had been informed by a breeder to leave it for a few days and then take it out. I now know this to be incorrect. (thanks to Ziggy, Dave, & Capala). What I'd like to know is how snuggly does your bird let you get with her, and does she let you pet her all over or just the head and neck? I'm trying to get an idea of what I may expect and what may bring on an egg laying. My bird has been getting more lovey with me, especially in the evening. Any observations would be appreciated and keep us posted how your bird continues to behave with the eggs. Thanks & See you out there Bruce & Mazy
