  1. Good Day! As many of ya's know I'am in the process of buying a new Baby Female CAG from a Breeder. I also have two Gouldian Finches (Male and Female). I was told that CAG's will not talk if other birds are around them Is that true? I once owned a Male GAG that started talking at 4 Months. When he was over a year old he would talk a storm, but at that time I only had my CAG and no other pet Bird's except my German Shepherd. Also will it be OK if I keep the cages on the same side of the room? Or will I have to place my CAG's cage on the opposite side? My Gouldian Finches are not all that loud except the male sings a little and loves to perch on my finger whenever I place my finger in the cage. Any Tips or Advise will be greatly appreciated;) Thanks All!
  2. Hello Friends, I was told to only feed Harrisons Bird Food by many Bird Vet's and Breeders. My Male CAG was weaned on Harrisons and only ate Harrisons, Fruits and Veggie's that I gave him. I was wondering if other Members here also feed their cag's Harrisons Bird Food? Thanks:)
  3. Hi Toni!! Thank You and lovemyGreys for that info. Judo:)
  4. You could always put a big towel or blanket folded up in the cage for when they are still a baby, but they won't need it after they get active and are more sure of themselves. ======================================================== I'll try that! Thanks Judygram:)
  5. Thank You! The Breeder of my CAG said that he will probably have a Female CAG ready for me to take home in Late November or Early December. Guy's I'll try not to stay away from the forum but I've learn alot by reading all the post. I read that many CAG Owners place a mat or a rug on the floor of the grate in order to prevent their grey from getting hurt in case a fall. Is this advisable? When I had Rico he fell a couple of time while having a war with his hanging wooden blocks and never injured himself? If so please LMK what you all use as a floor mat? Thanks.......JUDO
  6. Hey LovemyGreys! Too Late, I spent Too Much money on my Baby already!! Oh Well! At least I'am done. I only purchased one toy. So down the road I will have to buy another toy. Thanks........Judo
  7. Thank You!!! Hey Guy's dont ya's worry I won't! Pretty much on my free time I've been going to various Bird Shop's and Breeders checking out their Grey's. One Bird Shop had a 4 Month old Grey that got so attached to me. When I placed him back in his cage he flew up to the bars and started to cry out! It was as if he was saying take me with You!! I was so tempted on buying him but I still did'nt have a cage!! My prior CAG which was a male was partial to me. He would always try to feed me with the food that he had eaten earlier. Whenever I was cleaning his cage he would say; (Whatcha Doing)? Thank You All again and I'll try to pop up more often!! I Love this Forum!! Your Friend, Judo P.S. Judo is my nick name because I'am a Judo and Fire arm Instructor~!B)
  8. Hello Friends, Well sorry for being MIA but since my baby girl has'nt arrived yet,I've been buying items such as books on CAG's and I also purchased a nice large Playtop cage made from Avian Adventuer Avairy! It came with 3 stainless steel cups, 3 perch, one big one on playtop with two J hooks on top to add toy's. I also purchased her a nice big wood block toy to hang on one of the J-Hooks. Other then that I've been reading up and on CAG's. Luckily I still had a book about CAG's when I had Rico, the other's i had given away. Take Care, JUDO
  9. Thank You FairY,fourtrap,Talon,Joe & LovemyGreys! I do plan to be a value member of this forum and I will surely keep you all posted as to when my grey will be coming home! I don't ever remember seeing this forum back in 2004? I was a member of the Round Table and kept in contact with a few other CAG owners around my home. I had my Grey as a Baby in which I hand fed him. And he was almost 2 years old when I lost him but I will be very careful with my new baby!! Guy's You are all Great and Thank You again for your replies!! Looking forward to learning more about CAG's from You All!!
  10. Thank You for the WARM WELCOME!! The Breeder of my CAG has a female that is due in a few weeks. I requested a male if possible. But I'am already looking for a nice big size cage and etc to have it all ready for his arrival. Rico's cage and toys was thrown away because it was hard to see it around. It's taken me 2 years to finally come around and buy another CAG. When I departed for work Rico would say; ( bye Papa ) and when I came home he would get all excited and say (Papa is HOME)!! And he would say; ( I Love You ) and when I was cleaning around the House he would say; (What are You Doing)!!LOL!! So No, I will not make the same mistake again!:-) I was still fairly new with the African Grey and Rico was so smart that he figured out how to get out. He was sitting on top of his cage so upon going out my yard,I quess he got spooked and flew away!! I have'nt decided what to name my new Baby but it will not be RICO, That's for sure!!LOL!! Thanks Again Friends!!
  11. Hello Everyone!! Well I will soon be the proud owner of a male CAG! He is still to young to take home. Back in 2005 I lost my CAG, his name was Rico and I had him since birth. He was so good and well trained. But unfortunately while I had him out in my back yard in his cage, he managed to get the locking clip off and got out and on top of his cage. I tried carefully to go out to retrieve him but to no avail? He flew (Yepper, his flight feathers grew back)!! I tried to look for him for days and placed fliers out but nothing! So my only wish was that he found a good home.. I was so devasted that I refused to get another one until now,LOL!! So yea, I'am looking forward to having a CAG again and I will be careful this time around!! Thank You and looking forward to hearing from you all! Will from Miami,FL
