  1. Birds do not actually cough because they have no diaphragm ( i can fill you in Nims but it's a little complex ) But as you have found out they are great mimics :pinch: So no worries about your grey coughing. They do actually sneeze for the same reasons we do, something tickling our nose but those are harmless sneezes. If you ever hear her start sneezing you will want to watch & see if it's a wet or dry sneeze. Dry sneezes are not a problem, But if she ever sneezes and there is an excess of discharge, then it's time to be off to the vet
  2. Yes it does seem common in some parts to sell unweaned babies,it's just my personal hate & makes me so cross  Many im sure with guidence like yourself Sameera get through it,but it's the complete novices that worry me
  3. Hi & Welcome to the forum,we look forward to hearing more from you

  5. Hi corissa & Welcome to the forum
  6. If you leave the radio or TV on for her it's at least background noise for her , in the wild silence is a big sign that a predator is around,so the same could easily apply to our domestic pets
  7. Yes she is safer in her cage,as long as she has plenty of things to occupy her time, foraging toys etc she will be fine,do you leave the TV or radio on for her ?
  8. Mine have never been clipped but i do think allowing your bird to achieve full flight is important, Regular flight improves a bird's heart, muscle and skeletal structures. You will be surprised im sure how quickly he will master his flight skills, there will crash landings tho, make sure there are various landing points so he can focus on landing.
  9. Nice set up you have there Tigerlily .

  12. She is just probably happy to see your husband at weekends, very much like a young child she is playing you off against your husband.During the week your her best friend for company but come weekends it's go take a hike mom, dads home I don't have this problem with my greys, but i am experiencing the exact same thing with my macaw,my husband works away a lot,but is the best thing to her when he walks through the door ! If she bites you then get your husband to put her back in her cage, she has to learn that this is not acceptable & she will see your partner is cross with her too,she may be reluctant to bite if she learns this is limiting her time with him

  14. Sorry Christain by faster for who ? You or your baby ? This isnt a personal attack, but it is unfair to leave a 7 week old baby at home with the TV for company. This is such a crucial time in his development,He has no clutch mates for company or to learn social skills with,he needs attention through out the day,now is the time to be introducing him to new foods & stimulating him,i do hope he dosent become withdrawn for your sake. This is my personal opinion & im sure others will add theirs.

  21. NEVER please rush your baby to eat quickly for your own convenience, let him take the formula at his own pace.Is there anyone at home Christain while your out ?
  22. They often preen their human companions, she is happy & content & is showing you affection
  23. A good share of birds' waking hours are spent in preening. In the ritual of preening all the feathers are lubricated. Some birds use the oil from the preening gland near the base of the tail and others use the extremely fine powder down.In either case feathers must be protected from wear. With only one set of feathers a year, and being in continuous use, if they become ragged and thin, they will lose their ability to carry out their functions. Birds seem to know that good feathering depends upon constant feather care, and so preen continually
