  1. That is a big step Ronda, she felt comfortable & relaxed so she had a little grooming session with your hair As Lisa said it shows that Sweetheart is finally beginning to show she trusts you.Mine groom my hair but usually 3 at a time :pinch:
  2. They should regrow but unfortunately i cant give an answer as to how long it will take, you will have to wait for nature to take it's course...
  3. Hi Butch & Here is a thread on wing clipping... http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/10192-clipping-wings.html#24032

  5. I have submitted it as an article FairY,got this message,Thanks for your submission. Your submission will now be reviewed before being posted to the site.Is that correct ?
  6. Great advice Lyric & Ronda no more to add
  7. That's very sad, thank you for bringing that very important information to light & it serves as a reminder to us to be aware of the dangers that are potentially in our homes.
  8. Lysis i can fully understand your concerns, but unfortunately many greys diets lack some of the essential nutrients & vitamins for them to thrive.Even when we feed/offer our greys additional foods for example vegetables they tend to pick their favourites & discard the rest and therefore will not get the full range of foods necessary to get a nutritional balance.I commend your research in to the ingrediants & hope you can find a pellet/manafacturer that you are happy with. http://www.hbf-uk.co.uk/products/ingredients.html#highpotencyingredients
  9. Ah Ronda thats great,im going to try & save that picture Thank you.
  10. Just goes to show regardless of age given time our greys will bond & trust us & we can have a wonderful realtionship with them

    Meats

Prosciutto is an Italian ham that has been seasoned & salt-cured. Salt is bad for our greys so personally i would avoid it, but im sure a tiny piece in moderation is ok.
  12. thats way i have a bird room yes judy you are right about bringing ouy the maternal instincts in us, i want one ! but a macaw one
  13. Hi Imme & ,i commend you for researching first before commiting to a grey, here is an article which i think is relevent to your research http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/59053-a-parrots-bill-of-rights.html
  14. Ahmed if you are working long hours you will need your wife to let the new grey out,it will be unfair to keep him/her caged for long periods of time if someone is home, greys are very intelligent & sociable creatures they need to interact with their human flock it will be no good your wife observing from a distance. If you go for a baby make sure it is fully weaned & eating independently, looks bright eyed, has no poo stuck to the vent area,is active & playful.Get a health guarantee from the breeder. Please have a read through this article...it will give you a little insight in to a parrots needs. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/59053-a-parrots-bill-of-rights.html
  15. I agree with Bruce, take things slowly your new guy needs to adjust to his new home & surroundings, things will be strange for him for a week or so.Did your new guy have a health check before you introduced him to your existing grey ? They should really have been quarantined.Time & patience is whats needed for the new grey to gain your trust, but im sure given time you will make progress with him.
  16. Hi Pamela & ,What a considerate owner Doogie had to find him a new home,Pleased you joined us

Hi Terri, i give mine a chicken leg maybe once a fortnight as a treat, thats my choice as i believe the diet they have meets all their nutritional needs . Greys will love the bone marrow, which is highly nutritious for them.As with any meat please make sure it is cooked throughly, undercooked meat is dangerous for our birds. If feeding chicken the thigh or drumstick is best with the skin removed & a little amount of meat left on the bone.
  20. To still be level headed & have a fairly positive outlook on life ! I have had a lot of personal issues to deal with in my life,my mum died when i was 15 years old,ive had to bury my nephew who was an hour old,my cousin died from leukemia & my sister now has liver disease to mention just a few. Same question.. What do you consider your biggest life achievement at this point?
  21. That is really sad, as BMustee has said contact the person you got the baby from he was obviously ill from the begining, as you stated previously he has been on medicine & was small compared to the others, he should never have been sold to you.
  22. i know exactly how she feels,im not a morning person, soldier my rescue seems to come to life in the evenings,he's definately not a morning guy :silly:
