  1. Hello I have been to see several babies and made no decisions yet . . . . Out of all the babies that I have been to see there is one in particular who comes and snuggles down on my lap and lets me touch his legs and wings and belly and tickle its head. Out of all of them he seems to like me best and I am fond of him too (the nice man and lady who reared the babies seem to think he is a boy although he hasnt been dna'd) My question is that he nibbles (at the moment he not ready to go he is having one feed a day and the rest of the time he eats independantly) he doesnt bite or nibble my fingers when he is sitting on my hand but what he does is seeks out my arm and then he puts a bit of my skin in his mouth and then he wiggles his beak from side to side (it doesnt break the skin although it does pinch a little) its not nasty and its not attacking and when you gentley say no and slowly and gently push his beak away he accepts it and chirps and gets on with something else. Other times I also handed him a little toy and he nibbled that instead. So my question is should it be a definate NO as in should I not even consider it in your opinions could it turn into aggressive biting? Is the baby just exporing a little harder then he should? I mean I wont hold any of you ransom for your answers. He happily sat on my lap for over an hour and I twiddled with his toes and opened his wings and stroked his head and beak played with his ring on his leg etc and he sat and just loved it. I know any parrot can and will bite and I understand that but as he is exploring quite hard do you think that will have an effect on the outcome of the friendliness of the bird at the end of the day or do you think it is a stage that he will come through . . . . Oh I dont think I am explaining this too well I hope that you get the gist of what I am asking and I am looking forward to your replied nooeyxx
  2. THANK YOU EVERYONE for your lovely posts I am going this evening (that was fast wasnt it) to meet some babies that aren't quite ready yet. One will be ready about this weekend, two more in a week or so and another two in about 3-4 weeks. I wont just pick the one that is ready this weekend because it is less time to wait (I will pick the one that picks me too). . . . I cant wait to go and see them some of them have extra red feathers on them (I think that they are called King greys) but Im not sure about that but anyways they are hand reared in a home by a lady and gentleman we have had a long chat this evening and I have told him what has happened to me recently and he said when would you like to come and see the babies I said soon as possible he said how about tonight then? WOO HOO I was expecting to be told this weekend or something like that so I am just about to gobble down my tea and then I am off towards the sea. I'll take some pictures of the red feathered ones and post them later if you like? and also I will let you know how we got on Once again THANK YOU SO SO MUCH love nooeyxx {Feel-good-00020114}
  3. Thank You Lidia and Judygram I know it was for the best and also he is now reunited with his (real) owner. It was a huge mistake someone had put them to bed in the wrong cages and the strangest thing is that I visited him 3 times before visiting for a 4th time and spending about 4 hours there before taking him home. No wonder he didnt like me he had a name and a family already bless him (now at least I know it isnt personal and I really dont blame him in the least. I know what you are saying and yes my heart will mend he had such an impact me on the short time that we spent together that I know for sure that having a grey join my family is what I really really want now Again Thank You and I will still be around in between time posting and reading the posts here nooeyx
  4. Hello I just thought that I would let you know that I am now birdless After having my bird for a little over a week it has come to light after many phone calls and tears that the bird that I was sold was actually someone elses bird and not for sale at all. . . . I have no idea how this happened and also I presume that it was an accident. The bird was actually older then I was told (this may explain the bites that were harder then I expected) although not hard enough to break the skin. The bird actually belonged to a man which is probably why he didnt like me at all really and growled and eventually just about tolerated me no matter what I did for him it never made him come round. Apparently the bird was on holiday so I have been told and unfortunatly the bird that was meant to be mine (the real baby one has since been sold) so I was given a full refund and now I have a cage, toys, food, stand and a very quiet house as I have no bird. So I must start my hunt for a bird again. This time I think I will go to a private breeder who has baby birds as a hobby. If anyone may know of a baby that is avaliable I have money and a loving home waiting. I am in surrey but dont mind travelling for the right baby Thank You for all your help and with welcoming me here. Sorry I have been a bit quiet recently and not posting as much as I would like to of but I have been dealing with heart break and so much more. It is amazing how attached you can get to a bird in just a little over a week even if he didnt like me X a very heartbroken lady x
  5. Thank You for your reply beccy
  6. I was wondering if you would mind sharing with me whether you are male or female and whether your bird is male or female or whether you dont know? Also do you find that males africans prefere female humans and vice versa female africans male? Or do you find it doesnt matter? Also who has an african that will go to and likes anyone? Many Thanks x A friend has asked me being a female would I recommend a male or female grey as she has the choice of either? I know many people go on the bird picking you but I have read in several places that male birds after maturity prefere a female human and vice versa and so I thought who better to ask then the experts who live with these wonderful birds . . . . Looking forward to all your replies nooey and Echo x
  7. WOO HOO Ive managed to post a couple of picture of Echo in the photo album {Feel-good-000200BB}at last nooeyxx
  8. Thank You Judygram I am glad to hear it and no he hasnt broken any skin at all {Feel-good-00020114}and the last two days he has been much more gentle (more affection actually) (thumbs up and a big sigh) I did have to laugh this morning he saw my cat scratch on my hand and he has decided it shouldnt be there so what is an already sore peice of skin he gentle and delicately keeps trying to remove it (bless him) . . . . I have taken some photos so I will try and post some on here today. I am so pleased I have joined this lovely family nooey and Echo xx
  9. Thank You all of you for your lovely welcomes and especially Thank You to Ian for his posts they are very helpful and informative. Thank You so so much x I dont know if Echo is a male or female yet (I am not sure if I will get Echo dna'd or not yet!!!! Echo says Hello and also mutters lots of things that I am not able to understand. Echo also does a perfect wolf whistle and already in just two days he laughs just like me when I laugh then he joins in even my mum doesnt know the difference. Also he has a wicked sense of humour if I tell the dog off and put her out she comes and looks in the window and Echo sits and chuckles at her x:laugh: On a positive note I have only been beaked today (twice) harder then I was happy with but I cant say that it really hurts just that I have little delicate hands and when he does the same to my partner he says it doesnt hurt him at all x I have a little twizzle stick and when I think that he is going to beak me too hard or when he did earlier I twiddle this shiny twirler and he loves it and chirps at it and forgets that he was investigating my fingers seconds before x
  10. Ive managed to post a picture in the Photo Album Page (strange I didnt have to change the size of it there I still cant seem to post one here? So anyone that wants to see a picture of our Galah can see one there and I will be taking some photos of our gorgeous Echo later to add to it:woohoo: Love nooeyxx
  11. Thank You all for the lovely welcome and I am looking forward to talking with all of you and sharing our experiences Love nooeyxx Thank You for your help Ian that is what I have been trying to do and it seems to be working and I think you are right as it definately isnt aggressive it is like OI Im here but he does occasionally squezze a little too hard. I feel I am so lucky to have him Love nooeyxx Already in one and a half days he says Hello and laughs just like me. He dut dut duts the dog when she barks just as I do and he is making noises like he is trying to talk but it isnt coming out quite right just yet like he is practicing
  12. I would also like to ask one question if I may Echo every so often bites me well I dont know if I can call it a bite I mean it isnt nasty or aggressive although it is quite hard???? I was wondering if it is his age (I say his but he isnt actually sexed). . . . We can be sitting together having a lovely cuddle and all of a sudden he spots my finger and whomp (cant say it is painful and doesnt or should I say hasnt yet peirced my skin and I do have very soft little hands). I havent reacted yet as I dont want to make it into a game but I also dont want him to think he can keep doing it and I definately dont want it to turn nasty? Is he just testing (he is 18 weeks old)? Do I say no or gently or do I just carry on and not react? Love nooeyxx :blush:
  13. I do have some pictures of Angel my Galah (but they are too big and wont post here and I dont know how to make them smaller? Any Help Would Be Appreciated And Then I Will Post Some Love nooeyxx :blush:
