Oh yeah I've realised this ahaha! I'm still in denial about it a little though haha will she ever learn what I mean when I say "No" or that's enough, or stop that haha
-
Yeah she's spoilt az! Even has a cat house she like to play in too! And this last week or so her and the cat have taken ove the coffee table too 😆

Does anyone else have problems keeping their perches and ladders in place? I've resorted to tying them down! i wouldn't day she's bored either, she's always got something to chew on throw around eat, climb on lol! I think she just finds in fun to pull things apart. We have also been losing these for a while... andnlayely a whole lot more than usual... is this the start of her first malt? She's hatched aug 2018 so about 5/6 months old

Yeah it was a great little outing, kept it rather short, she met a few people with lots of questions... not many Greys in NZ 😏... and then we saw a dog that she insisted on maintaining a visual on at all times haha! But as soon as I saw her first yawn we turned around and headed home. She got a little fidgety with the harness as we were on the way home, but nothing major, a few sunflower seeds is all that was needed to distract her while I was driving. once we got home she had a very big sleep... haha! she gets very tired after experiencing new things and places. I think it's because she's only a baby.

First time in the harness.. so we went for a drive to the beach got a little fidgety on the way home but happy as 😊 oh yeah I cut my dreads off! Radical difference in appearance lol v

Yeah I watched the DVD, he demonstrated on a macaw, Tali isn't quite are keen on physical touch as that macaw is haha! Like I said when she wants a scratch she loves it, when she doesn't she lets me know! She growled haha or ducks and weaves from me haha! Shes more of a " i like to be next to u or on ur shoulder/hand" type of grey who loves treats haha! I can get the harness on with her being a bit touchy around her wings but I don't want to cause more mental trauma by not addressing that issue.

Hi y'all! so I have decided to go down the flight harness route. Tali still has clipped wings but once her malt is done I have decided to let her keep her wings so she can fly to me in the house. so I now have a harness to teach her to wear so we can still enjoy outings together. my problem is.. she's not big on being touched on wings or under wings. She loves to snuggle in the evenings under her blanket, and when she's chosez she loves a scratch under her chin and on her back of neck... She is willing to put her head into the harness to retrieve treats. How can I get her used to being touched around her wings? I think she remembers the breeder cutting her wings and she wasn't exactly calm and gentle about it. do you think I should worry about teaching her to be touched under wings? Or just focus on putting harness on over head? Once it's on over her head if I keep the treats up I can manuvour the rest of the harness inplace, I havent worked up to tightening it up snug to her body yet. any advice would be much appreciated thank y'all so much in advance 😊

Hey y'all, i have been given the chance to have a second baby grey... My Baby girl Tali is currently just only 4months old and now I have been offered another weaner grey, from a different breeder. His name is Ira. i have already got a good bond with Tali and I thought that maybe they would keep each other company while I'm out milking cows every morning, or occasionally over at my partners place.. would I be able to keep two greys in the same cage? My flat is small and I would not be able to fit a second cage inside. please tell me what u think. It's a big cage and when I'm home, Tali is not in her cage much at all. She's on my shoulder around the house or yard or on the couch exploring, teasing my cat, or having a sleep on me haha!
-
Yeah i stopped putting her up there for a few weeks because she was being such a terror about coming down, but now I feel she's starting to understand her commands more so I'm giving the play top another go
-
So I may have a slightly spoilt bird haha 😂 does anyone else have issues with the step up command when their birds are up on their play tops? I use dried mango to blackmail her down! Where she is in this pic is at the top of my reach (seriously, tippy toes) haha! But I am 5 ft nothing 🤣😜

Haha! Funny little tantrum! He's adorable! Poor little dude looks likes hes recovering well
-
Question... if you constantly get them used to new things when they are young will they still find it stressful to accept new things like new toys and perches as they age?? So far If I have something new, Tali can't wait to get ahold of it to investigate it, see what she can do to it... throw it, chew it up, hang off it, carry it around lol... Should I keep giving her all sort of new things while she's young to avoid issues in the years to come? Or does it not really make a difference?

OMGosh my friend showed her once and the next day.... hello!! Got it sussed out 705CC7AD-9C06-4E0A-9752-8D78A163763B.MOV

OMGosh poor Ollie! Im interested to see pictures of him in a cone of shame and with his new ramp. I hope he recovers well, and quickly! Gosh if anything happened to Tali I would be an absolute mess!
-
I am also in the same boat, I have no kids, no plans on having any either haha and no close family... my partner is 23 years older than myself so I don't think that's an option haha!... maybe I'll live till I'm really old?? You never know... perhaps we (Tali and myself) will go at the same time... 😂
-
On the subject of leg rings... do any of you find your Greys constantly playing with it, biting at it. Lol sorry or do y'all even have bands on ur greys 😆😊 Random pic of the day haha! She loves my earrings, and nibbling on my ear lobes lol ... she's my little weirdo 😂
-
Hey y'all, thanks for your replies yeah I absolutely love her little red feather! I do hope it grows back red when she molts 😁 and yeah I totally had that same thought about making it easy to ID her if she ever loses her leg ring.. or gets nicked
-
Hi y'all! So my new baby girl Tali has one random red feather on her leg. She's only 4 months old and I was wandering when she goes through her first molt do you think this feather will always grow back pink/red? I think it's mega cute haha! I hope it stays sorry she was also chewing up a note from my doctor while I was typing this question haha! who needs a shredder when u have an African Grey 😂
-
What age can greys start to mimic sounds? I'm not worried about her talking but I'm already hearing some strange sounds that she makes when she wants my attention 😆 they are not her normal chit chatting cheeps and I wonder if it's the kisses sounds cos I smother her with kisses lol or if I'm just imagining/hoping
-
I have never herd of a harness for a parrot. I will have to look into it thanks 😊

Hi all! I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself and my amazing new baby girl Tali! I think she's just so amazing I had to share her with y'all we live in New Zealand, not a lot of greys in my area so I'm hopeful to find this community as somewhere I can get advice, ideas or just boast about how cute I think Tali is haha! Tali is only 4 months old and I have had her for about 10 days haha! She's a real snuggle bug! Is that normal lol (see pics)? She had her wings clipped when I got her, so we enjoy going outside and watering the vegi garden together and getting some sun (when it's not raining haha) im still in two minds as to if I am a fan of clipped wings or not... but it is nice being able to have the door open and walk around with her on my shoulder. She actually gets along with my cat really well... the cats name is Lexi, they are very respectful of each other and are always supervised if out together so no need to worry y'all! 😊
