  1. No more pictures from the breeder..... She is ready to go and will not change much until we get her so the next pictures of Zoe will be when I take them in her new home
  2. I forgot to post the new pictures! Sorry about that. Here she is as of last Monday. We will be picking her up on May 23rd!
  3. We are keeping her flighted. That is my biggest concern too. I will have to figure out how to keep her from flying out into the living room but plan to work on recall training to limit that. it will be a challenge but that's one of the reasons we are getting her. I am sure I will be calling you for help more than once when this all gets started
  4. I am going to post some pictures after I finish more of the room to get some opinions and advice. Should be able to post after the weekend coming up. Pictures of the room, cage, play areas etc.
  5. I am hoping in the next 3 weeks. I still have a few things to complete before she gets here so need that time. We are beyond excited!
  6. New pics of Zoe! Nearly ready for her first flight and soon to be completely off formula. Should be time to go get her soon!
  7. Another week down! She has discovered her wings!!
  8. I looked at the Beckwith fan as well. I really wish the exhale would add the LED already..... Thanks for the reply Tankaray. I think I am going to give the exhale a try and see if it works out. I like that it mounts directly to the ceiling without leaving a possible perch on top so should not encourage our TAG to get on it.
  9. Hello all, I am aware that ceiling fans can be deadly for a flighted parrot or even a clipped parrot. I came across this bladeless ceiling fan and was wondering if anyone on here has one of these and or what the Grey community thinks on first impression. Do you think this could be a safe alternative to a bladed ceiling fan in the primary room where the bird will be housed? http://exhalefans.com/see_the_innovation.html Thanks in advance! Brian
  10. Thanks for the video link Accapella looks very cool. I need to get a few bells and start putting mine together. Those were some very good ideas. How often do you have to take that stand outside to hose it off? It looks like he does his share of pooping on it as well as the base. I assumed that would be the case when I built mine.
  11. Monday update pictures of Zoe! She is starting to look like a Timneh African Grey! I got an estimate of 4 to 5 weeks before we pick her up. Super excited!
  12. I am still working out what to add to the branches. I am thinking a stainless cup or 2 would be a good addition as well. I will add some screw eyes this weekend for hanging toys and other interesting things.
  13. We got the new pics a little earlier tonight. She is really filling in nicely! Lea says she is starting to interact well and they are working on the step up command. Won't be long now.....
  14. Thank you! I can't wait to get started with her. It seems like it is taking forever but it wont be too long now. I love the picture of your girl, Inara! She really is beautiful.
  15. I plan to leave it in the room where the cage is so she will see it from the start. I plan to let her explore it from the floor on her own before I try and put her in it.
  16. Thanks for all the nice comments! I can't wait to see if she takes to the play stand.
  17. Thanks JeffNOK. We are getting her from OKC so nearly as far as Tulsa from us. It will be worth the 4 hour drive for sure. The only other possible Timneh was in Gore OK but the eggs never hatched. They are difficult to find without having them shipped.
  18. I have reworked my chameleon cages so that I have a semi dedicated room for Zoe's cage and 3x5 table that I plan to use for training/toys and interaction time initially. I have plans to build an aviary out back and will hopefully have that completed before she gets here. I have seen dozens of videos on preparing parrot chop and other soft foods and many more about training and toys etc. I have completed my 2nd african grey book and will likely buy a 3rd (e-book this time) and complete before she gets here. I have so much reading knowledge but almost no real experience so I hope to see more greys in person before she gets here. I need to make it out to Sterlings place to see the crew and his awesome aviary since he is just up the street. With all of this preparation I am sure there will still be something that I missed but I hope to be as ready as possible!
  19. She hatched 02/06/15 so almost 2 months. I hope its within a month. Lea at the aviary told me that she would be fully fledged by the time we take her home so it might be longer. I am not sure how quickly they get to that point.
  20. Here are the latest pics of Zoe! More feathers growing in. She is eating more soft foods and starting to play with toys.
  21. I built a playstand yesterday. Let me know what you all think about this. I have it mounted to a 3/4 peice of plywood with a large lag screw coming up through the middle of the trunk and another screw to keep it from spinning. The stand is right around 5 feet tall give or take a few inches. I took quite a bit of time to get it balanced just right so the tree would stand by itself without the bottom. Makes it really stable. There are 4 locking casters on the bottom so it rolls really easily and the white plastic bottom cover is a sterilite lid from a large tote. The wood is Crepe Myrtle. I saw that it was on the safe wood list so I downsized one of our trees to make this stand . I plan to hang some small toys from this in the next few days. Any suggestions on perch placement, etc are welcome. We will have our Timneh African Grey within a month so this is for her. Thanks!
  22. I love that one too. We will have her in less than a month now. Super excited! I will post the new pics tomorrow.
  23. New pictures of Zoe! She is really starting to get some nice feathers. The breeder tells me she is very affectionate and loves to listen to them talk to her. I can't wait to see her in person!
