  1. Mine was R1600, in dollars that would be around $213. Bit cheaper if you are in Africa hey?
  2. I use Kitty litter instead of newspaper in Roxy's cage, there are NO smells now because it absorbs the moisture, unlike the newpaper that gives off a bad odour. Hope it helps someone.
  3. Hey all, long time no see. Since I got Roxy, one year and four months back, I never had the need to clip her wings, which actually is not a good thing because I would like her to fly. Lately I noticed that some of the feathers (flight feathers) are growing again, but are not in a good state. Any advice as I would love her to fly. Thanks.
  4. Hi there, these are wonderful pictures. I noticed that your CAG's chest has a few feathers missing. My mom's CAG keeps on jumping of the cage, and the feathers fell out because of that. I wonder if other's CAG's do the same?
  5. Hi there. There is no scientific or proven reason why Timneh and Congo's lifespan differs, so my bet is on the fact that they are the same. X
  6. Zooky, what you are doing is amazing. God will provide for you and your baby. Our prayers will make sure of that.

    Roxy talks!

I think I should make a video, but as soon as she sees my camera she is as quiet as a mouse. Sy praat Afrikaans. Hie hie
  9. This weekend was very special for me and Roxy. She started to say all kinds of cute things. She is really becoming a real cute birdie. She plays with everything and everyone. Whenever she hears something new, she starts to practise saying it, and then just suddenly she will say it all the time. So cute.
  10. Hey Paully. When Roxy still wanted her baby food, her poop was the same colour as the baby food. It was then that I knew that she did not need the food anymore, but she still wanted it. I introduced many other foods to her, and she hates sunflower seeds, but I finally found the food that she wanted. Cooked veggies will work fine until you find the needed nutrients for your bird. Hope this helps. Regards, Gerhard :cheer:
  11. You couldn't be more right. Roxy was out the whole for the last few months. She hated her cage because of that, and that is also SO dangerous. Last week, she shewed my brother's laptop cord, right THROUGH!!! Luckily the plug was switched off. You never think of these hazards. Thanks! :cheer:
  12. I have always loved birds, I had a cocatiel when I was still living in my parent's house. What I love most about them, is that they will ALWAYS love you, they grow so close to you and really become a friend for life. Many people can learn so much from a beautiful parrot!
  13. Hey Ian. That is 100% the truth. Roxy picks up Sonja's words much quicker than mine, but make no mistake, but she does copy me and learn from me. They make the high pitched sounds easier than the lower ones, but cause they love us so much, they really do try their utter best to say what we do. Thanks for this post.

  15. That is so wonderful. You won't believe me, but I also have a Furby that Roxy plays with, Furby sings two songs when you press him. Just a piece of worthless information.
  16. So so so so so sorry, he will come home when he is hungry, you are in our thoughts.
  17. Yuck! But yes, Roxy does that too. I noticed about a month ago that she likes to see where her excretions land. :woohoo:

  19. Hey my people!!! I am so happy, my fiance created a blog for Roxy as a surprise for me! That is so nice of her. Here is the link if you want to go and visit. www.greyroxy.iblog.co.za Hope you will visit frequently. {Feel-good-000200BB}
  20. Hi family! Roxy is 6 months old tomorrow, she started cute sounds around 4 months too, but for the last 3 weeks she's been saying hello clearly and I can hear quite a few new words that she is trying out. Whenever someone sneezes, I say bless you so that she can learn that, and when someone leaves they say bye and after a knock I always say hello come in. I want her to learn the meaning of the words, she look very intellegent and I'm sure she's going to be a very bright bird. Thanks you all for your good comments. Love from South-Africa.
  21. Does anyone know where I can get an aviator, I would LOVE Roxy to fly around safely, although none of my friends think its a good idea, I would like to try it, they say it is cruel to let the bird fly a bit and then be pulled back. Any advice on where to get the aviator, I'm in South-Africa if that helps.
  22. I'm glad I read this post. Roxy is quite upset with me the last few weeks. She was used to sitting on my shoulder, but I stopped that because I don't always have time to get her towel because she can REALLY make a mess of my clothes. Now I'm glad I taught her to stay on my arm and fingers, that way I can move her over the newspaper for a poop, and it resolves this problem in our conversation. Thanks all.

    brown poo!

Don't worry yourself, it won't be anything else. As long as Brian still poo's its all good.
  24. Roxy is 6 months old on Saturday, although she is so attached to me that I can don anything with her I want, she loves my fiance, and likes my brother as well as one of my friends too. She is starting to be independent, which is kind of cute, she used to scream for food, but now when I give her her food, she has this attitude of, "oh, food, you'd better give it to me, cause I'm your boss" Don't think I helped you, but wanted to join in on the conversation.
