Dave to rescue again!! Thank you for the link to the post it very informative. I just want to make sure im not doing anything wrong and or making the situation worse by not putting the cone back on. Also thanks for pointing out the diffrence btween plucked and chewed. Garcia is the first brid I've had the pleasure of taking care of so I am still learning, as you can tell. It was just a huge shock to walk in and see no cone on and a pile of new feathers on the bottom of the cage. I am using Photobuckete but they changed things up since the last time i used it and cannot find the different size options -
New To Bird Care, and Have lots of Questions!!!

Okay, so i came in today to find that Garcia had removed her cone of same over night. This is what was all over the bottom of her cage. I'm sorry for the huge picture i can't figure out how to make it small ATM... Should i be worried that she may hurt herself now without the cone? She seems happier without it on, but i guess what I am asking is what do i need to look for before taking on the battle to put the cone back on? Anyway you guys have told me before that once a plucker almost always going to be a plucker. You guys as well have told me to take the cone off but as I am not her full time owner it is not yet my decision to make. -

That is by far her favorite place to be. I found out she didn't like the bandage when i went to pick her up and she ran off scared clucking like a chicken. Lol -
You smash your finger come back with this and your bird now thinks there is an alien there now.

So i smashed my finger Saturday. Came back from the hospital with 4 stitches to hold my fingernail back on and this..... Needless to say Garcia acts like there is an alien on my hand now, LOL. Other than that just got in the FEATHER-IN that DAVE recommended, so ill start using that today. Thanks Again for all the help guys!!!!!! -
If your here to pick fights GO ELSEWHERE, i don't wanna read your whinny baby B.S!!! I've got 3 kids for that. Opinion is opinion but when you keep going its annoying. BTW parrots do frequent their local CVS!!! Source: My CAG was a CSR there........

Ran to Walgreen's on my break. Gave Garcia a good spray down with the straight aloe juice she wasn't the happiest but i got her sopping wet even under the wings. Its nice and hot here today so i took outside with me to stay warm. Now she is giving me the go to hell look, ha ha. Thanks for all the advice!!!!

When using the aloe spray should mix it with water or just use it straight? I saw that Talon says they mix 1part aloe and 2 parts water. What is recommended?

What other option s do I have beside the collar. -
I figured I'd make my second post to this thread. This is me learning fro Garcia when enough "Kisses" are enough!!! She grabbed my lip while perched on my finger so naturally i jerked my hand away(I used to have a 5ft iguana so i know the importance of not "jerking" when BIT) and she hung from my lip flapping away till i picked her up and she let go. It could have been A LOT worse. I was lucky she didn't bite thru my lip. Also she can fly due to a broke wing that's why she hung from my lip for so long.

This is Gracia, she is 17yrs old. I am her foster parent for the time being, her owner can't have her where he is staying so she is at my place of work. (I'm still working on my getting my wife to let me bring her home, we have 3 kids 6 and under). The previous "Forster parent", I call her C*$T. Due to the fact she put Garcia in the front room of her house and ignored her, only giving her food and water and not letting her out. Which is why she picked her feathers. She has been wearing the "Cone of Shame" now since September. We took it off for about 45min the other day and she went right back to plucking. There are 3 of us who work here and I'm the one who takes care of Garcia the majority of the time so naturally she gravitates to me (I love animals so that perfect with me). It took about a month for her to warm up to me, not trying to bite me every time i got near or tried to pick her up. She now lets me pick her up when ever she loves sitting on my shoulder and being rubbed on the back of the neck. Also when she was younger she fell and broke her wing which required surgery and pins so she can no longer fly:( She has such a great personality I just want her to be happy. So now for some questions that i have all of which really could not be answered clearly by here dad, i hope you guys can help me out. 1. Will she ever grow her chest feathers back? 2. Will she ever stop Plucking? 3. She seems to hate the Parrot food she has, especially the pieces that look like dog food. What do you guys suggest besides the classic fruits and veg. 4. She is scared to death of just about anything large you walk in to the room with( any way to help?) 5. How do i make her more comfortable with being touched, she gets a little nervous when hands go behind her. 6. i have more but cant think of them right now as I'm at work....
