Josey took last Christmas in stride, you have to do things slowly and tell them what you are doing before and during the actions so as not to scare them. Who knows they may be fascinated by all the lights and decorations. Just be sure if you do use candles in your displays to not light them which of course I never do anyways. Like you Erika, I used to put my tree where Josey's cage is now so I put it in another spot, move things around a little to fit it in for a couple of weeks.

I was so hoping this grey was Captain but at least one owner is happy now that they have their beloved grey back but I hope this fella finds his Captain and I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers that it is real soon. Let us know if you hear anything Caroline.
-
Since you just brought him home he needs some time to settle in and feel comfortable then you will see more of his personality. I look forward to seeing some pictures of Sharkie.

Jake, has anything changed in the last couple of days that might have caused her to be biting? This grey is 3 years old but how long have you had her? If we had a little more information we might be able to determine what is going on.

Hello Jake and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Lyndsey Red. You have come to the right place to learn all about the greys and we have some very knowledgeable people who would be more than happy to assist you with any questions you may have. For lots of useful information please read thru the many threads and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I would love to see a picture of Lyndsey Red when you can get one posted.

I would keep her at arm's length until you feel more comfortable with her and learn to read her body language. Oh yes I would imagine she loved being out of the cage as they all do.

Dianelys, what a horrible accident but those ceiling fans can be very dangerous for our flying babies. Glad to hear that the beak will regrow itself, it just takes time. As the others have said you may have to feed softer foods until her beak grows back enough for her to use. Do keep us posted on her progress and give her an extra little kiss from me.

Thanks for the update Toni, you are very lucky for it could have been much worse but you will be as good as new in no time, just don't push too hard too soon. If you do succeed in doing a cartwheel could you get that on video so we can all enjoy it:whistle:

Thanks for the update on Spike, I hope he continues to do well and gets better quickly, I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery so he can return to his home.

Actually it would make a fine piece of jewelry if you are into such things, it would look stunning hanging from a chain around your neck:laugh:  :woohoo:

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear of this, poor little thing but it may have been something wrong with her you didn't know about. But burning the candle didn't help and it may have contributed to her death since we are not supposed to use any kind of candles and especially scented around our birds. Maybe you should consider taking her in to the vets for a necropsy to determine the cause of death so if it is anything the other two could catch then you can do what you need to prevent them from coming down with it. Again I am so sorry for your loss, even though you only had her for a short time, it was enough to care and love her, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Don't worry about it, he is not the first bird to be posted here in this forum that has feathers missing and I doubt he will be the last, but at least they can see how sweet he is.
-
That would be my guess too, maybe she blames the perch she was on for what happened to her but in any case if she feels safer there then let her be.
-
Yeah he does look a little rough but he is a trooper and so sweet looking, thanks Susan for sharing him with us.
-
Well congrats on having a girl when you thought you had a boy, Casper is a fine name for a girl too and since she knows it already just keep it.
-
I would guess it was a hasty introduction and Alfie just wasn't ready for it, he should have been taken in slowly to avoid scaring Alfie and then he could come closer. I would say Alfie will gradually get used to it as time goes by but some greys do not like sudden changes or any changes for that matter so give him a little time and talk to him in a soothing voice and reassure him that he is going to be fine.
-
Thank you Pat for sharing that very uplifting story for us, I can only imagine how great you must feel receiving Tyco's love but it could only be accomplished by someone with a huge heart that you obviously have. {Love-000200BF}

Dang I'm good, right again, yippppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Loki is a girl and a very lovely one at that, thanks Bryan for getting the results to us in record time.
-
Tigger is so pretty, I love that bright green color, thanks Erika for sharing him with us, maybe you can get the video loaded soon so we can enjoy it, maybe Susan can help you with that:whistle:
-
I would give the vet a call also, they may want you to bring her in but if she hasn't been in for a while it wouldn't hurt except for your purse, some vets will talk to you over the phone and some won't.

Don't let him know you are afraid of him or it could get worse. So he bit you thru the cage bars, some birds are territorial about their cage so if you invade that they take offense, let him come out on his own and see if he reacts differently. Sometimes birds can be moody and have bad days just like we do so learn the signs to be wary of and let him have his space if he wants it.

OMG, it is too early in the day to be looking at poops on the website:sick: oh well no lunch for me today:sick:  Just kidding, looks fine to me, it does vary somewhat according to what they eat. Suzanne, you should try some fresh beets sometime, it does color the poop a pretty purple and the white part a pretty pink, it is something to behold.  :woohoo:

New to the group, question about egg laying
judygram replied to denicetx's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hello Denise and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Dorian. Oh my, you thought Dorian was a he and surprise, surprise, he is a she, laying an egg proves beyond a shadow of a doubt she is female. It is my understanding that this is common even if they don't have a mate, the egg of course is infertile but her body is telling her to do it anyway. We have some members who have more experience with this sort of thing so I will let one of them answer that question. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Dorian you would like to share with us we would love to see her.
