  1. If you pm one of the admins, preferably Talon, she can handle that for you, it may take a few days but it is possible, all you have to do is ask.
  2. Hello Jackienjojo and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Jojo. Don't worry about making mistakes as we all do that, we won't hold that against you, we are all here for the same thing, to get information about our greys, make some new friends and have a little fun in the process. Not that you need it but we have a lot of helpful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do ask questions, any and all are welcome and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Jojo you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  3. Oh boy, this is exciting, congrats and be sure to get us some pictures of ZZero, I want to see.
  4. Use the aloe vera juice straight from the jug. Diane, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little about you and Polly.
  5. I am so interested but I will be in Florida on the 10th of December, I have never been to DC and want to go especially if Irene will be there but I can't make it. I hope you are able to go and be sure to share pictures and give us the details.
  6. Maybe the next time you decide to change the furniture around include Freddie in the process, tell him what you are doing before you do it and do it slowly so he has a chance to take it all in, you would be surprised how much they understand.

    cheese

My Josey loves her cheese too but they really shouldn't have any more than Dave suggests, greys are lactose intolerant so they cannot handle the dairy like we can. You don't want to make them ill just for the pleasure of a little extra cheese. I give slivers of cheese several times a week but the total amount she has in a week's time is what Dave gives, that way she has it more than once in a week but just in smaller amounts at a time. Believe me my grey and my sun conure both love cheddar cheese and as soon as you bring the package out of the fridge they know it and their eyes get big and begging.
  8. Hello Pnp26 and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you are getting. I have never seen one of these hybrids so I am excited to be able to finally see what they look like. I know you are excited and I would be too if in your shoes. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I look forward to seeing some pictures when you get the chance.

  10. Hello Tony and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Harry. I hope this will be the second and final home for this grey, he needs the stability of a forever home where he can trust his owners and live out the rest of his life in the loving companionship he deserves. I think Harry will eventually come around but realize it will take some time so go slowly and let him have some space if he needs it, don't try to rush him. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Harry you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  11. Well thanks Chris, its nice to hear that our advice of ignoring Harley throwing his food is starting to work for you and it is appreciated when someone lets us know that our ideas and suggestions actually work.
  12. I'm glad to hear that someone else appreciates Dave and his humor, what would we do without him, I don't want to find out:ohmy:
  13. Do you know any of the bird's background besides the owners passing him along because of his biting? This will help in figuring out why he is doing this. But in any case since he is not a baby anymore this will take time for him to settle in and trust you, who knows maybe he was mistreated in his previous home. You must give him lots of time and use much patience in working with him, seems as though he was frightened of people and it will take a while, months and maybe years before he will let his guard down enough to bond with you but he has to trust you first. We have some excellent threads that deal with this very situation and we have some members who are very knowledgeable that will chime in with their ideas and suggestions. In the meantime why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and him.
  14. I can't wait for you, you are going to have so much fun when you bring the baby grey home and I am sure he/she will pick up the most obnoxious ones to mimic. You're right, there is not much you can do about the noises it hears but in any case if he/she picks up one you don't like just ignore it for if you give any reaction at all that only reinforces the repeating of it for the response it gets.
  15. Sometimes moving the furniture around can make a change in them, they notice everything and if things are different they will know it, as long as she is eating and pooping fine I would give her another day or so to see if she perks up and then you will know.
  16. Hello Gina and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Zazu. Well you are no stranger to parrots what with 2 blue and golds, a harlequin and an amazon and I bet social hour does pretty much rock the house when they get going. Only had him a week and he is already spoiled rotten, sounds about right, they do wrap their talons quickly around your heart, no doubt about that. As you have already done some reading on the site, continue to do so for lots of useful information in ourmany threads and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of Zazu you would like to share with us we would love to see him and we have an other birds room where you can share the other too if you like. This is a wonderful forum and you will make friends here very quickly.
  17. Oh my, now we have one don't we:whistle:
  18. My cage is about 46" wide, 28" deep and 60" high and I wouldn't go much smaller than that, they need enough room to fully open their wings and not touch the sides and it should be powder coated or stainless steel. My cage is a split level with one side being shorter than the other with a playtop on that side. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and this new baby grey you are getting.
  19. Oh I see the squirrel too in the second picture, yes Baxter was taking it all in and enjoying it, thanks for sharing the pictures with us.B)
  20. Polly must have been a very special bird and you are very talented to have written that touching poem, it made me cry to just read it, thanks for sharing that with us and my condolenses on your loss no matter how long ago it was.
  21. Yes we do have a few named Charlie, guess it is a popular name for a grey but then we have a lot of members here too, my grey's name is Josey, don't think there are any other Joseys on the forum.B)
  22. Sorry to hear there has been a delay in getting George but at least you are now prepared to bring him home and good luck to you and be sure to share some pictures with us when you can.
  23. You need to introduce them slowly and never leave them alone in the same room especially when your baby is out. You may have to keep your dog penned up at first when you have the grey out of the cage until you know how it is going to be with them. But certainly a lot of us members do have cats, dogs and other pets in our house and we handle it just fine, be sure to set aside time each day for each to have one on one time with you by yourself so they each can feel special to you. You don't have to sacrifice one for the other, just spend quality time not necessarily quantity time with each and you will hit the balance. But you do have an obligation to keep your Tag safe while not pushing aside Lily. Some of the other members who have dogs will share some more insights with you.
  24. My brand is Fruit of the Earth and it has sodium benzoate (a food preservative at 1/10 of 1%) so yes it is acceptable. I know sodium benzoate is a salt but I think the amount is minute enough to not be of any harm.
  25. she wrote: That may be it in a nutshell Sheila but in any case she does not waste much of it so whatever works is good with me.
