gusandgloria, thanks for yur post and i understand what you are saying, but all my children have been brought up with birds, budgies, cockateils and now african grey. our yonger child is 4,and wouldnt be left unattended around any bird! big or small my children are never left alone around any birds,as we all know, children can be a bit clumsy, and birds can also be nippy, and it doesnt matter if you had the bird for years, one little fright could cause it to nip,so when my birds are out,im sat with the birds and kids. But i do understand what you are saying.

Makes me laugh,i buy Bernie parrot toys and there expensive,he has it done before the weeks out, then i buy my wee boy a new game and he does the same! i give my boy hard time 2,telling him that was dear to buy these things, lol he says mummy you dont tell Bernie off!! after reading on here i went up the loft and brought down a pile of my childrens toys, bernie loves them, and the kids love to play with them and bernie. so bernie happy and the kids, and i got some extra cash.lol

hi.i also read some place that a CAG had died instantly, and it was due to there owner drying there cag of with a hairdryer!! the element inside the hairdryer was coated in teflon and the high heat caused the fumes to kill the poor baby instantly:( i use a baby soft towel for Bernie,

we all love to hear our birds talking to us,and we all sit and wait for the day that he/she gives us the rush of pride when they say it to you. So i thought it would be nice to see what all the birds are talking about all around the world,so what new words or sayings has you bird chatting? Bernies new saying is "wheres the birdies" and "big trouble" he says wheres the birdies for my wee girl stands and asks him this when he is beside her at the window,he even does it in her tone :silly: and big trouble is when he goes to nip me,i just say big trouble and he stops, lol good birdie,

hannah_rae lovely story,i treat my bernie like a baby 2,the kids laugh when i wipe his little beak after he has ate something messy. Ratioalreasonz,i felt the same way, its a lot o cash for a bird, but sadly i lost my mum and then thought what the heck, lifes to short, and just done it,lol and ive never looked back. Also think that animals soften people, and well thats not a bad thing is it.

hello everyone,We all know these birds can make us laugh and smile or even put a spring in our step just thinking of them,But has anybody ever been so pleased with there little friend its moved them or near moved them to tears? I would love to hear thoses moments,so come share a great story., i will start it off. i have been trying to train bernie to shake my hand, and say how do you do.For 2 weeks now,and really thought i was nt getting no where, but kept going cause we both enjoyed the play around, but the other day he done it,flew over to where i was sat and walked over and said how do u do! not only that but lifted his ikkle foot for me to shake:woohoo: i was so proud of him (and myself) i had tears in my eyes.:silly: so my lesson from him was never give in,keep going,
