  1. Around our house the most important meal of the day is 'Lunches with the Ladies' which is served at the request of Huey (our local ladies man) morning, noon and night. A plain english bagel would most likely get tossed on the floor (in a thousand bits) and there would be pacing and gnashing of beaks. HueyLunchingwiththeLadies.mp4

  2. So good to know that someone else is enduring the almost exact events...Debbie will at times fly directly at my wife, beak open! Then fly off laughing! Or come land on her arm sit for a bit, reach down nip, fly off and laugh...this just started...again...happened once before, then just quit...really no change in her environment or routine...actually travels well and adjusts to new environment when necessary. Hopefully it’s hormonal and will pass...most of the time she’s so sweet, but right now a bit unnerving.

  3. Wife has a new classroom this year. I thought it was pretty nice of the school to install a nice skyhook to hang a batbird from. She hung there for about an hour before she wanted down. Crazy bird.

  4. Boy, did I get bit today! For breakfast all I had was two English muffins, toasting them one at a time. I *really* like toasted English muffins with some oil! (Olive, vegetable, motor... okay, that's a joke). Anyway, I think Timmy was disappointed with our lackluster breakfast, and he was just not ready to go back in his cage. I kept telling him that we would have more, that I'm making round two, but he wasn't having it. So I made a second boring-ole-English-muffin, and Timmy was not stoked. I tried to let him hang out on the table for a while, but he got into mischief and bit my finger as I held a glass. Getting Timmy back into his cage was lots of ouches. Moral of the story: get up earlier and make a fun, colorful, bountiful breakfast!

  5. My sister and I grew up with a dog and we loved him dearly. He's probably a large part of the reason why we both still love animals and have pets ourselves. It's not a bad idea- just needs lots of careful planning I guess. My sister's situation was fairly unique because my brother in law had managed to injure his knee so badly that he needed surgery and was out for a while with it (had to sleep on the sofa because he couldn't manage stairs etc for a while). At the same time my sister had a really rough pregnancy and was quite ill after my nephew was born. So they had a rough few months to start with. I realised I probably sounded really negative in my last post which wasn't my intention. At no point did they want to rehome the dog - it's just he had to cope with less walks and less attention when my nephew first arrived. My parents and I helped out when we could but there were days where he just couldn't be walked because my brother in law was laid up with his knee and my sister was too ill- all whilst they were trying to care for my newborn nephew. I always feel sad when I see animals are being rehomed because a baby arrived but I think this can usually be avoided with consideration and planning. It also helps if there are parents/grandparents or other family members who can help take a load off when things do get a little crazy! I loved growing up with our family dog. We got another one some years later when I was around 11 years old so I went through my teenage years and early 20s with him. So if you can make it work then it's definitely worth considering.

  6. I've said this elsewhere, but mine will hang upside down off my hand/fingers at bedtime -- pretty hard to put an upside bird on a perch. He's all limp and thinks this is hilarious. I often have to just lay him on bottom of his cage until he lets go of my hand and realizes it IS bedtime. lol

  7. Brilliant photos! Alfie hangs upside down on his rope boings quite often. I call him a "bat-bird" 😁

  8. Corky will also hang upside down for long periods of time also. They are wanabebats.

  9. Salut tout le monde ! I took them old rusty hooks off of Timmy's perch. All the metal had to go. Ain't no rust gettin' to my birdie! My stepdad had Timmy out on the screened-in porch this morning, on his perch. He loved it! But I'm apprehensive about putting Timmy in any scenario where he could possibly get away.

  10. I believe that Greys are no different than humans when it comes to emotions and situations that happen to us and them in our daily life We don`t all ways tell people what is going on in our life. Some times we just have to get over it. At one time or another we all end up with a stone in our shoe.

  12. When it comes to our greys we always want a happy ending. To get back something we loved like a grey is something special.
