Our usually happy older grey has lost neck feathers for the first time ever in the 30 years we have had him. He seems happy enough - it doesn't look like he is plucking them out - so we are baffled. Not changed his diet much - seeds nuts, fruit, water, occasional- milk treat - scrambled eggs. Have read bout aloe vera so will try this. Wondering if we should take him to aviarist?
Yes. If this is a new condition, then he could have something going on that might require medical attention. Blood panel might be needed to rule out any chemical imbalances. He could also potentially have a skin infection
Thanks guys ☺. Was hoping it was normal behavior as she is so adorable when she does it. She seems like she is having so much fun, I would hate to have to deter her from it.
Today she took her first flight from my counter to my couch. I'm such a proud mommy 😆
