Hey y'all, i have been given the chance to have a second baby grey... My Baby girl Tali is currently just only 4months old and now I have been offered another weaner grey, from a different breeder. His name is Ira. i have already got a good bond with Tali and I thought that maybe they would keep each other company while I'm out milking cows every morning, or occasionally over at my partners place.. would I be able to keep two greys in the same cage? My flat is small and I would not be able to fit a second cage inside. please tell me what u think. It's a big cage and when I'm home, Tali is not in her cage much at all. She's on my shoulder around the house or yard or on the couch exploring, teasing my cat, or having a sleep on me haha!2 points

Being they are so young they will likely get along at some point. Putting them in the same cage that small is a risk. Greys need their space at times. I always recommend a second Grey if you can accomodate one. Greys get along or at least the playing field is level with one of their own kind. I hope your taking measures against losing your birdy when out in the yard. I get so tired of reading the lost bird posts on FB that I just skip right over them.2 points

Hello all! I hoping someone could enlighten me please, my african grey Larry is now 20 months old and doing very well. However during the week (4 days ,my wife has Fridays off too) he is on his own for a minimum of 6-7 hours which we really hate but can't avoid. Its been the same since we got him @ 11 week old. Every evening, he is out his cage and we play with him for minimum 4-5 hours. During the day we we make him plenty of foraging toys with hidden treats so he does keep very occupied and he isn't plucking or anything like that. However, we feel it would be lovely / beneficial to get him a companion (in different cages). What bird can live happily with a grey? We were thinking of cockatiel or would this not work? Would larry be aggressive and territorial towards an new bird entering the home? Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards, James and larry.1 point

My dad passed this year, but his favorite Christmas music was a Jackie Gleason album, he played ever year since I was old enough to remember. Its real easy to kick back and listen. You can download them (Remastered) or click them. Merry Christmas to all. or what ever you are celebrating. https://blackopshosting.com/cloud/folder/3/Dad_s_Christmas_Music?sharekey=fva1b5y9-2eogwoo7ir394x4yob-uv9k4g3fca_l4wygom72v1bls1hpe5wzy7y01 point

I would always provide a separate cage for each bird for even though they both are greys they may not get along, chances are they won't and each bird will need a cage they can call their own, birds can be territorial about their cages especially greys. Its nice if they do get along and even if they do they still need separate cages for the reason I stated.1 point

I know. I'm concerned, too. Since Thanksgiving she'd drop in a day here or there, but as of late she hasn't been online at all.1 point

There not, those are just ones that have registered BEFORE I closed registration, they kept their powder dry so to speak, so there will probably be a few more, and then no more.1 point

There's no easy answer to your question. It depends upon the bird's personality, for one. It's truly a crap shoot. I have 13 flighted fids, and 8 must be taken out as solos. I have a group of 3 same size birds that can come out together, and 2 duskie conures that can be out playing together. Part of my situation is that I don't want to take any chances with testing them out together. There could be other groupings that would work, but I'd rather rotate them. For me it's less stressful not having to continuously supervise their interactions.1 point

Hi JoJo. I've never used the Mediterranean Bread by TOPS. But I did notice it has a very similar ingredient list that matches Harrison's High Potency pellet. In that case I would not make it a mainstay food unless your bird is under-weight. My suggestion would be to give it to your bird 2-times per week. Whatever they'll eat, it's not about the amount but he frequency. That's something I would feed to an under-weight bird frequently.1 point

Another Grey 🤣 I couldn't trust my GreycieMae with any of our other birds. She's just to big and can easily hurt them. Enter Huey, a strapping male African Grey and he put her in her rightful place! She tried to bully him but learned real quick it was no contest.1 point

At nearly 2 years old chances are Larry would not befriend a cockatiel unless you are very lucky. If Larry acts like a normal Grey and decides that bullying the cockatiel is fun and easy to do, you will have to be ever vigilant and one small accident can severely injure the cockatiel. I keep my birds in similar sized groups: greys together, my Viking mid-size ruffians together and my lils together. Even with my lils, my conure likes to bully the cockatiel but there is no size difference so he can hold his own.1 point

Yeah i stopped putting her up there for a few weeks because she was being such a terror about coming down, but now I feel she's starting to understand her commands more so I'm giving the play top another go1 point

Oh yes! They absolutely love being just out of reach! There are times when I have to get the ladder to reach Maalik. His cage is something like 6 feet tall. Then, once I'm standing on the ladder, he retreats even further back, again remaining just out of reach. Such smartie pants these guys are!1 point

GreycieMae puffs up and gives me her best rendition of a back-alley thug when it's time to put her to bed. She's had the same routine for 7+ years now.1 point
