On the subject of leg rings... do any of you find your Greys constantly playing with it, biting at it. Lol sorry or do y'all even have bands on ur greys 😆😊
Random pic of the day haha! She loves my earrings, and nibbling on my ear lobes lol ... she's my little weirdo 😂
I had to get Alfie's band removed from his leg as it was rubbing and started to look like it was getting sore- that's the only time I've ever seen him poke at it. I asked my vet to remove it to avoid any issues/pain.
Edited to add- I had him micro-chipped at the same time so I still have a way to ID him if the worst should happen and he escapes the house.
One of the first things you should work on is step up training.
This is the one think your grey can learn to do well and its something you will do every day.
Always get excited when your grey steps with positive reinforcement as this will always build and maintain your relationship.
Only 2 of my 13 parrots don't have leg bands. And none of them mess with them.
I like the idea of having a phone number placed on their bands. Got an estimate a while back, but it was way too expensive to cover all my fids.
I chose to not put the band on Josey as I have heard several stories of them getting the bands caught on something then injuring themselves, I have the band in my possession but do keep an eye out for any kind of redness or swelling on the banded leg.
Hey y'all, thanks for your replies
yeah I absolutely love her little red feather! I do hope it grows back red when she molts 😁
and yeah I totally had that same thought about making it easy to ID her if she ever loses her leg ring.. or gets nicked
You never know with the red feathers. Timber has a couple that he has had since I got him, so I'm assuming they are permanent. I call then his "beauty marks"
