  1. I've been planning to have some kind of outside enclosure for Alfie for a long time. My dad helped me all summer sorting out my garden and redesigning it and we created an area where an aviary could fit. I had to wait until now before I could actually order the aviary as there was no point buying it right before winter as it would sit there unused for most of it. I knew I had a week off work this week so I ordered it in time to be delivered on Monday. Then the snow hit... This was the snow from yesterday. It's deeper today. So now I have a stack of panels in the middle of the garden waiting to be built. The weather forecast looks pretty rotten for the rest of the week with more snow yet to come. I will post photos once we are able to actually get out there a build it. Then the fun part comes... finding toys and perches to fill it with! It's going to be dual use- for Alfie and the cats (not at the same time for obvious reasons...!) so I'll need to find some things for the cats to climb on and play with as well. It will be located at the back of the garden, behind the garage on the right. It will then overlook the whole garden and the back of the house but will get some shade in the afternoons.

  2. Hello everybody , after I found out what foods BuBu likes ( almond , sunflower seed)🌻 i give him each one a few and now he growls less but i approach 6-8 times a day and I want to know is it ok ? or is it too many ? And next question is when I want to approach Bubo he makes two kind of voices sometimes its growling and its continuously, and the other is a voice like growling but not continuously it’s like a scream but looks like a growling can you guys tell me the differences between these to kind of voices ? There is a reduction at growling but screaming ( mix of screaming and growling i dont know ) hasn’t changed yet ,

  4. Do you have access to parrot pellet type food? You are right about sunflower seed not being the best choice for the majority of his diet. As for fruit, greys aren't supposed to have a high sugar content so fruit should be limited too. I'm thinking a small piece a couple of times a week is what is recommended. Your go-to for diet should be vegetables. There are recipes on the forum for "mash" that you might look at. This thread on the forum talks about vegetables: The entire thread on feeding your bird has a lot of good information. Be sure to check out the lists of things your bird CANNOT have. I had no idea when I got Timber that there were foods that would literally kill him, but there are.

  5. One of Joe's favorite new spot is Jay's walker which we keep close so he can use it whenever he has to stand, etc. This is especially good for Joe since he shares all of Jay's (and our) meals from this spot other than Jay's shoulder... ... Just a little background...when we first got Joe, he would constantly bite his nails (talons) out of nervousness or anxiety and it took a few years for him to stop. Now, he has begun this again whenever he wants us to help him or if we refuse to give him something that he wants...he has learned that this triggers a guilt trip in me......The other evening, Jay was having a hamburger (something that has not happened for many weeks) and Joe was told he could not share that...thus the angst...I grabbed the phone and got some funny photos of him trying the nail-biting, guilt-trip, angst-driven behavior...too funny!
