I totally understand!! There is a Timneh on CL here right now for $900....picture in ad has small ROUND cage, one itty bitty toy and the quote "You can pet him on his head and teach him to talk if you want he is about 2 years old" UGH! I bet the poor thing has hardly been out of the cage.
I had Lollie on her playstand which is next to my bed(too high for kitten and too far from the bed) but she kept staring and seeming a little too interested in Lollie. Whenever I saw her do this I would hiss and gently bat her away. She seemed to get the message, I hope! I need to get a squirt bottle! Kinda worried, I was hoping she would not have a reaction!
I too have been reading this thread daily hoping to see some good news. I am praying for you both. Come on Murphy, come home little fella, you mum misses you!
I guess my substitution for MBS (because my house is too small for another cage) was to get a kitten. We got a sweet little med/long haired Tortie who is 7 weeks old. I know cats saliva can kill birds and I am not planning on letting them mingle but I am curious if the kitten grows up with Lollie will she think Lollie is part of the family? Is there a way to curb bad behavior from the get go? Anyone else have cats that co-exist just fine? Is your cat declawed? Did you have the bird or the cat first? Did your grow up as a kitten with birds or came in as an adult? Any advice would be appreciated.
Hehehe sorry! You know he is still gorgeous with tattered tail feathers. Lollie came with tattered wing feathers that are looking better every day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! That is an awesome present!
Lollie's cage is on pergo wood type flooring. She likes to play on her seed guards (favorite part is throwing the corner pieces on the floor ) so she poops on the floor...not to mention all the food that gets thrown about. It's not a big deal but it sticks on the floor and I am not sure scrubbing them is a great idea. Her playstand is on my room which is on carpet. Most of the stuff I can vacuum up but she just learned she can climb down and play on the floor of the playstand and she occasionally poops over the side.
Do you have a routine for cleaning your cages? (I can't even imagine some of you guys that have MBS!) I try to put fresh paper and spot clean daily after she goes to her sleepy cage for the night. I wash her bowls every night. However, some nights I am just too pooped! I have not taken it outside for a spray down yet.
I bought a bad of Deluxe Seed mix that is for Large birds like Eclectus/AG etc. It has seeds and nuts in it. When I opened it I noticed it had peanuts in the shell in it. I thought I would just pitch the peanuts but then got to thinking what it the peanut shells have tainted the other seeds in the bag? Any advice here? I have no qualms just throwing everything out if I need to.
I was wondering what Lollie thinks about me, thanks for clearing it up!:D:D
I actually think Lollie would be mad if I got another bird. She doesn't like it when the dog/kids or husband vie for my attention, I am sure she would not like another bird doing the same! Maybe that will keep MBS out of my house, who knows!
