It sounds like I have been very lucky. I have not touch wood had any problems as yet. I have ordered on line but it is usually confined to a few companies I have used for a while. I have also used a credit card abroad once. I feel very fortunate having read these posts and it is a good reminder to all.
I am glad you made a vet appointment. It will put your mind at rest. It is clear you are worried and your greys behaviour has changed. Both these are reason to visit the vet. Good luck and let us know how you get on. One more thought, have you added anything new to his cage or surroundings. New toy or new furniture, curtains, feed dishes ect. Greys can be funny about new things. Sheila
Hi As Dave sugested a vet check may be the best cause of action. His breast bone could be damaged or bruised and a vet could check this out and put your mind at rest. Sheila

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/10/20 00:43
Hi Cant add much more advice really, its all been said. Just exercise caution where your child and your new grey are concerned. No reason why you cant have a grey but I would not allow too close contact while your child is so young. Greys live for 50-60 years so plenty of time for them to grow up together.
Hi your grey is still young, most greys are around 12 months old when they start talking. Some dont talk at all, prefering to whistle. Some talk when on their own,if you are in another room.As for the perching, Charlie preferes to sit on my wrist or arm rather than my hand.Just keep doing what you are already doing.
Sounds like he is asking for attention. If you can stroke his head, work on step up next. If he gets scared back off a bit. Take it slow but handle all you can even just on the head. Offer treats by hand. Sounds like things are going the right way. Sheila
Charlie has just been watching the video very intently and has just regurgitated food. Could the babies calls have caused this? Beautifull baby bird

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/10/05 21:18
I imagine a taste is fine. Charlie will say "want some" when I am eating something he wants. He is very fond of fish, egg, crackers and steak. I only give him a tiny bit unless its healthy food. No caffein, salt or sauces. Sheila
Oh Siobhan. I cant let Charlie near a remote, he has demolished 3 sky plus remotes at £25 pound each and yesterday my mobile phone got killed well and truly so no way am I letting him close. I am looking for a box of sorts to keep things out of his reach. My own fault I know, just got distracted for a second and he swoops on the phone or remote. I bet he would win the competition though.
Brilliant. I can see you are going to have so much fun. As has been sugested let a vet check him over, but Iam sure all is fine. Keep us up to date on the progress you are making with him, Good luck. Sheila
Hi Tulip. I am from Liverpool uk so not at all near you but welcome to the forum.I feed Charlie my grey organic pellets as well as fruit and veg. He also gets bits of healthy food I eat, he loves fish. I try and get him exotic fruit but at the moment I am finding this is not so available.I do give him the odd nut but as a treat because of the high fat content in some such as peanuts. sheila
Thats typical grey behaviour, Charlie is the same he takes cuddles on his own terms and lets you know when enough is enough.

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/10/05 11:59
I dont have any personal experience of cockatoos. I do know they are very needy, wanting constant attention and are very very prone to plucking and screaming.Beautiful bird but not for the faint hearted.
