Hi Jessica, welcome to the froum.
After your baby reaches 6/7 weeks of age and has made the transition from brooder to cage, it is time to begin introducing weaning food. moistened Pellet food is a safe food to start weaning your baby onto with the addition of seed, fruit, veggies. Also have a separate water dish next to his food.
here is a link on handfeeding, it is for a general guideline only & each baby will vary

I think it's just down to personal chioce Siobhan. My boys were weaned on to seed along with fruit, veggies & everything else. They were fed a high quality seed mix & remain on that today along with everything else they eat.My seed is no means cheap, along with a tropical mix, pulses i spend in the region of £50 per month, not including their veggies & fresh fruit
Here is a link to some African names with meanings if your after something a little different

He wont be fully weaned at 10 weeks Fal, but babies will start to refuse less hand formula, follow your baby on how much formula he wants to take,be sure to offer a good variety of foods.Plenty of mixed veggies, fruits, pulses, moistened pellet/ a good quality seed mix with a low amount of sunflower seed.
arrior how old is your baby now ? is she fully feathered ? if so give her a gentle mist with a spray bottle, feel with a little tepid water, freezing cold may give her a shock, gently spray above her so the mist falls down over her like rain drops
Some things are just meant to be Sandra, fortunately you was able to meet Lucy & instinct & judgement came into play for both you & Lucy.Sometimes birds just dont get the correct vibes from us & vice versa.Im sure Lucy will find the right owner.
not to much of a wasted trip if you had a good time
