It definitely keeps me busy, but I have a good routine in place. I have my morning coffee while chopping up their fresh veggies. It's my time to mentally plan my day. In the evening is when everyone gets let out of their cages. They're all flighted, so I decided to make evenings their time to get out and fly/exercise. I have 10 fids. Like you, I stress over what will happen to them once my time is up on this earth. My family are not into birds, so I'll likely find homes for them if my health goes south. If I go suddenly, then I have a notebook of wishes, etc.

My pineapple GCC, ecclectus and black headed caique, unfortunately have all passed away 4 to 5 years ago. The pineapple and BHC succombed to an environmental toxicity within 30 minutes of each other. My husband had brought home a pan that we weren't aware had PTFE. My son cooked something over very high heat, which killed them. It's a miracle the others weren't affected. My ecki went into respiratory distress for reasons unknown to us, and had to be PTS. This was at a different time. So, in all, I've had 13 fids. I started my journey with birds later in life.

Merry Christmas to all!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Timbersmom! So happy to hear that Timber is doing well! That is something to be most thankful for!

Fantastic! Thank you again, Kevin!

Thank you, Kevin. So sorry to see that you're having to deal with this again. Please know that I am grateful to you for your efforts in keeping this site afloat.

Happy Hatch Day, Talon! I bet she was hoping to find a real waffle inside!

Odie looks really good! He must be enjoying all his good eats and lovin'! So glad you were able to FINALLY find that travel cage! Your nightly set up looks really nice. I don't have a sleeping area for my flock as I personally haven't found a need for it here. They'll stir a little at sunrise, but they usually don't get around to chatting amongst themselves until 0730ish, which works out just fine for me. There's been a few occasions where one or 2 of them have experienced a midnight terror flail, but it usually happens right before an earthquake. It's amazing how they know even before we humans do!

I'll take the smoke alarm sound any day over having 3 parrots making long, sustained belching sounds, one after the other, as if they'd just downed a tall frothy mug of beer!
-
Haha! Oh, that's so funny! Would love to have a match off with your two. The worst sound mine have picked up is my son's prolonged burping noise following with back and forth shrieking matches. I need me an Odie to help referee!
-
Why is it that when one of my CAGS learns to make an extremely obnoxious sound that the other 2 decide to adopt it as well, creating an annoying ongoing chorus? And why don't they share the more pleasant sounds amongst them?

What a cool thing to do bringing Alfie along with you! Thank you for sharing all your pics with us. Alfie is one spoiled birdie!

Thank you for the update! So has he pushed Greycie into the second place naughtiness category? One of my all time favorite videos from many years ago is when you and your family were playing games while Greycie was on top of the refridgerator. She was so full of sass and enjoying every minute of attention! What does Hughie think of his new 'friend'?

How's Odie doing? Did you ever look into his air sac issue?
-
What an amazing story! I'm so happy he's now back in your care. He will have a chance to eat well and to be loved again by his very first human. Love everything about this! And that GreycieMae...So like her to make such a grand statement! I sincerely hope the air sack issue will not be of concern.

Do you have Odie now? If so, how's it going between your other red feathered butts and Odie so far? -

Just don't let Greycie know that Odie will be testing out her new sleep cage before she will. -
Aww, handsome Alfie! Not much to report bird-wise from my world. Am looking into options to help dampen the noise in our home. We don't have any carpets, so I'm hoping to find some sort of sound paneling that I can move across the bird area as needed. With 10 birds, no one can hear what the other is saying when they all decide to have a little birdie conference!

I don't believe in coincidences, either. I do recall you talking about Odie, but have forgotten what species of parrot he is. Can't wait to hear about your boy. And congrats on FINALLY locating that travel cage! Perserverence definitely paid off. Nicely done! -

Did you ever find one? Someone on another forum mentioned finding one on Marketplace. Not sure if you saw her post or not. -
I’m so sorry for the loss of Brutus. I know what you mean by his being your soulmate, and that the bond you shared was incredibly special. It’s okay to feel this pain—take all the time you need to grieve. Everyone here understands how African Greys create deep emotional connections with their person, and I feel deeply saddened by your loss. Please tell us a little bit about Brutus. How did you meet him? What cute quirks did he have? What were his favorite vocalizations to make? How did he enrich your life?

Chewys has some travel cages that might work for you. Amazon has some comparable cages as well. I also saw this one: https://www.parrotsrus.net/store/TRAVEL-CARRIER-for-Small-and-Medium-Birds-By-Prevue-Pet-p537471600?gad_source=1
