Guest briansmum
... his fruit spear! thats right, i put some fruit on a spear for the first time today and brian won't go near it, he's say about a foot away from it in the "attack" position. it has grapes on it too the silly bird, if he knew what he was missing. just thought i would share as i find it hilarious. i'll stop being mean now and go show him the fruit are friendly
judygram
Yes Beccy they can be like that but show him it is good to eat and he will warm up to it. It is so funny to see them scared of harmless things but that is what makes them greys.
Guest Lidia
Sometimes what they are frightened of can seem quite arbitrary. Joshua startles at things I just can't see or hear, I suppose that's part and parcel of being able to see into the UV. However, I was casting shadows on the walls last night and he was quite amused by them, rather than nervous, which surprised me. Brian will be scared of your fruit spears today and by tomorrow he'll be pretending that he ALWAYS Liked them. Enjoy!
judygram
Yes they can startle at the most peculiar things but you just have to tell them it is ok and go on, eventually they get more used to it.
CeasarsDad
Ceasar will look at a new toy for days before he decides it's OK to play with it.. I just leave it there on his playstand.. He gets over it by himself..
Tari
I hang stuff outside the cage for a few days. Once Que starts picking at it threw the cage then I can add it in. The jolly ball however went in on the first day. She loves that thing.
judygram
So she didn't hesitate to play with the jolly ball, thats great. Josey used to take to new toys right off but now is a little more leary but not for long if she wants to play with it, if she doesn't she won't touch it. Guest briansmum
thanks everyone. he tentitivly pulled some plum off but that was about it, i will try again today. i found it so perculiar because he is not wary of anything, i can put any toy straight in there, it was just wierd how he decided the fruit spear was "the ultimate threat"
judygram
Vary what you put on it and maybe something will please him enough to eat it off and then you will have no more problem. They can be peculiar about things.
Guest briansmum
yes i will.. if all else fails i guess it's not the end of the world i'll just have to keep putting it in his food dish. maybe he prefers it that way
judygram
Could be he prefers it in the dish and not hanging but keep working at it, I'm sure he will come around in time.
