Eckobird
I make a mix that is almost like this but mine includes: brown rice, bean mix called "bean soup," and frozen veggie mix. I haven't tried the grains or pasta yet. Where do you get the grains from?? Ecko loves the popcorn kernels too but I didn't think about putting them in the mix so I thank you I am going to now. It looks very yummy and its so healthy for our greys. Thank you for posting, hopefully it will encourage people to make this for their greys! I am going to make my mix right now. lovethatgrey
{Feel-good-00020114}Thanks for sharing! It all looks great but that's alot of food just for Dalia. How much does she eat in just one sitting. I think I will try the kernel corn method. They sure love corn at this house.

myafricanqueen
YOUR WELCOME! caitb2007, I go to a health food store and buy organic grains, I also get her nuts there and the beans/peas for sprouting. Yeah it makes a lot but it goes right into the freezer! SO it keeps until you use it up. I freeze only enough for a couple days. Take out as needed. (I also have other birdies that like to pick out what they like) I also give her Bobbies Birdie bread, and fresh fruit and cooked veggies like Yam, Sweet potato and cook her an egg once a week. She likes oatmeal and of course her nuts. So many things to try out! Lovethatgrey, You are SO right about the corn! Dalia loves it! In fact we had corn on the cob tonite, she almost flew into my plate before I could cool off a piece for her. I would love to see some other recipes if anyone has any. danmcq
This is a very good illustrated post on making a good mix for Greys. It is very similar to what we cook up for our birds. I feed it to our conure also, which likes it. We freeze ours in individual "Snack" baggies and take one out each day and let thaw to room temperature. Thanks for posting this and Karma to you. :-)
