CeasarsDad Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 That's the beginning.. Keep reinforcing that phrase while introducing others..
judygram Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I hope my Josey doesn't pick up any new sounds while she stays at the sitters. She has lots of birds, including cockatoos, loud cockatoos and other birds, Josey will scream like them I am afraid. I can't wait to get her back, I missed her so.
Gloria Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Hi Everyone,My grey is 8 mo. old and all he says is hello. I keep trying to expand and offer a lot of other phrases related to what he likes. for example, he loves scramble eggs in the morning with me and I am trying to get him to say "more egg" or anything else! What should I be doing to help him increase his language. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks much, Gloria
LunaBaby Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Hi Gloria, He is still very young. They say most greys really start talking around a year but some start around 10 months. My Luna is 8 mos but she is starting to speak in gibberish so I know it's coming!
Pryde Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 My bird stayed with her breeder for 10 days while I was away. The breeder said she was talking up a storm and clearly saying "pretty bird" and "hi". Figures her first words would be while I'm away. I still haven't heard anything but the wolf whistle and kissing sounds
BMustee Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Mine said "Hello" once about a month ago...ONCE! I was doing dishes and I had read someone on the forum gushing about how their bird started talking before it was even weaned, so I was like "thats it, your going to talk...your getting showed up!" and sure enough he said his one little word:woohoo: . I hear him all the time using my voice and doing the vocal pattern of me saying, "What are you doing" and "Hey baby" but no clear speech. Thats one thing I don't get, he's so smart with other things like learning tricks...I'm just always wondering why he isn't talking.
