J5sense
Thank god I work down the street from my apartment. Yesterday i was at work, im a mechanic so im outside/inside all the time. i work 1/2 block from my apartment and last night im working and i see 3 fire trucks 8 cop cars go flying past my work and turn into the apartment complex. i was just finished fixing a car and was pulling it out of the shop when i saw all of this, so i drove by my apartment building and saw IT WAS ON FIRE! I was able to be escorted into my unit and grab my 2 dogs and grab Fred (CAG) and put him into his traveling cage (i had ready for emergencies!) we all made it out ok, the fire (electrical) managed to stay contained to the other side of the building and we had no damage. I had Fred checked out by my vet. He is ok, the windows where open and the room has some smoke. He was freaking out due to the ear pearceing fire alarm and im sure me and 2 other fully dressed firefighters running in dident help out. but we are all ok fred is back to normal, it was just a scary night as it could have been worse. judygram
OMG, that is very scarey but I am glad you were able to get Fred and your two dogs out to safety, this is a perfect example of why we should have a travel cage ready for our fids for we never know when we will have to use it. You were very lucky as it could have been a lot worse, glad to hear Fred has been checked out and is A-Ok.
Tycos_mom
OMG that is so scary. I'm terrified of fire when I was 5 yrs old our house burnt down. the people upstairs where smoking in bed. I'll never forget my Dad grabbing me and my 2 sisters out of our beds at 5am and seeing smoke and flames everywhere. So So scary I'm so glad that everyone is ok thank goodness. I don't have enough travel cages for all my birds but I do keep a large pillow case beside each of their cage so at least if there is a real emergency such as I fire I can get them out quickly and saftly Its not a cage but it will contain them its light weight so I can take them all at the same time. if I had to put them all in travel cages I would have to make 2 or 3 trips if they are in pillow cases just one trip and we are all out saftley. If you don't have a travel cage for all its the best solution. My vet actually sugested this.
