Parrot Sizes

I have been thinking of getting another parrot (in the future) and wouldn't mind taking on a rescue bird. I'm unsure of some of the sizes of other members of the parrot family and would only take on something smaller than a CAG. Conures I know are quite small and obviously Macaws are huge lol but what about Amazons or other species - are Amazons a similar size to AGs?

Can anyone help or advise? Thanks!

I have a Severe Macaw and he is about the same size in length as my Congo not including his tail of course weight wise he is about 1/2 the size though he's weighs 378 gr. My Indian ringneck is a very sweet little bird He wieghs about 120 gr and is about the same size as a conure mabie a little bigger.than some but about the same as a sun conure or a cherryhead My Amazon is about the same size as my Grey she weighs 430 gr which is also what Adaya weighs there are a few smaller Amazons though that are about the size of a Timnah. Goffins cockatoo is quite small also about the size of a Timnah also, and most of the mini macaw are about the same as a conure.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/06/03 04:06

Here is a picture of my white capped pionus parrot named Sachi. In my opinion, pionus parrots are a great complement to anyone who has an african grey in their flock. She is my first parrot and Emma came afterwards.{Feel-good-00020114}

Thanks for the complements everyone.{Feel-good-00020114}

To answer your question Judygram, I would not describe her to be at all like a sun conure. She is very playful... but in the mannerism of an african grey. She is calm, mostly quiet but has her moments of vocalization, very laid back, has a wait and see approach like all pionus parrots, is extremely affectionate once trust is gained. Here is a link for more information about the pionus parrot.
