Tycos_mom
Well I must say that since I've moved Jeepers to his new spot he is just turned into a very sweet bird he wants me to kiss him and give him scritches all the time. he still gets nervous about anything new I thought Greya where the only birds that got nervous about new things but Jeepers is why more so than my Greys are poor thing must have really had a horrible life before coming to me. Today he asked for a scritch I guess it feels goo because he has so many pin feathers on his neck and head. so I started giving him scritches and for the very first time he actally closed his eyes and enjoyed it for about 5 minutes. Usually he watches my hand and if I get to close to his face he trys to bite but not today. he just totally enjoyed it so I think mabie we've finally turned a corner. Another thing he does now that he wouldn't do before is to let me rub his beak he doesn't like it much yet but he will let me do it. he has come a long way in just a few days he was so afraid of hands and now he's actually starting to find out that hands can also give love. He still not sure if he wants to step up so I'll wait till he's ready at least he's no longer lunging at me and I can even kiss him with out it being through the bars of his cage. He loves kissing and says kiss kiss when he wants one and streach his neck towards me so I can kiss the top of his beak and he make a big kiss noise as some as I kiss him. Anyway I pretty excited about all his steps forward since I moved his cage to a more apropriate spot in the middle of everything.
Luvparrots
Congratulations Pat, Jeepers feels he belongs now. Isn't it strange how much feeling and emotion our fids have. Now Jeepers knows he is really part of the family!! How exciting for you!!!!
judygram
Jeepers just wanted to be in the middle of everything and now that he is he is happier and that shows in how he reacts with you. It is so great to hear you speak of how he is doing better, poor thing probably did have a terrible life before coming to you but he will soon realize he has hit the jackpot. Thanks for sharing this story with us Pat.
LindaMary
I always love hearing what Jeepers is doing, Pat. I think it's great that you post these detailed updates periodically: they not only show that you are definitely making progress in gaining his trust:woohoo: :woohoo: , but they also show how L-O-N-G it can take to make that progress, and how much patience it takes! Your birds are all SO lucky to have found you. Tanner has also just recently decided that there must be something to this head-scritch thing that he sees me doing for Max all the time. Starting a few weeks ago, he starting letting me scritch his head sometimes, too (only on his terms, of course, meaning he could whip around and nip me any time....:pinch: ) - in fact sometimes he actually "leads with his head" leaning toward me - to tell me he wants a scritch. Good for you for being so loving and consistent with him. I know it was a huge positive for him to move to a more integrated location with your other birds. I really find that the more time Tanner spends in the middle of things, the calmer he is... Maxi is much more independent than he is.
