Rox565
Does anyone know of any bird shows, expos, fairs, sales to go to in WA, other than the one in Sept. in Bremerton. I want to learn even more about birds. I want to be sure that I am making the rite choice on my purchase ( when I make it) I have my heart set on the Greys and always come back to the idea of purchasing one of them over any others. They have won my heart, and I don't think I will change my mind. I do want to be 100% sure that I am willing to take on the life-long com. and want to know the good and bad about what I am about to get myself into. I have parakeets, horses(Arabians), and Boxers. So I know how to have patiance and work with high strung critters. The birds are not as crazy as my dogs though. Gota luv em though!!!!!!! Your input would be greatly help me out. judygram
That would be your best bet, the link from Deborah in the previous post. A bird club would have some answers for you.
Talon
Rox, I find that greys have a lot of the same personality & emotional issues that a horse does. We have always had horses, and they need to be treated with all the care and compassion as a grey. We don't believe in hitting our horses like some owners and trainers do. For example, I have found that if you hit a horse when they bite at you, it just encourages the behavior, greys exhibit the same behavior. There are a lot of similarities in them. I don't find that greys are high strung at all. But certainly do your research on them. They are a life long commitment. And you will absolutely love them!! judygram
Thats ok, neither can we, and sometimes when we hurry to post, I know I really screw up and have to retype over. No greys are not high strung just very cautious like you said, with a lot of the similarities that Talon mentioned.
Talon
Rox, not all horses are high strung. Like Judy said, greys are cautious, not high strung.
judygram
Just the thoroughbreds, right?
Rox565
It depends on each horse , not just one breed. I have had a couple of Thoroughbreds that were sweet as can be and mello yet had a Quarter that spooked at everything. I love my Arabs and Arab/Quarter horses the best. I think I just love animals in general I can handle cautious. I also can't wait to save up enough money to purchase a AG. I just had to take my boxer to the vet and that set me back quite a bit. Hopefully by September I should have enough.
Talon
Good luck to you Rox. I hope you get that Grey real soon. Thoroughbreds do have a higher tendency to be high strung, especially if they had been raced in their younger years. We have a 5 year old that we bought off the track, and he can be a little nutty. Keep us posted on your purchase of your grey.
