rac3r
Hey all I'm new on here from London UK. I've had my grey for 7 years now, he's quite friendly and talks ALOT! But I need help because I can't get him to step onto my hand. I read the sticky topic but that was more about stepping on command, I just want him to step on when I put my hand out. Whenever I put my hand near his feet/chest he just puts his head down near my hand or steps back slowly, he doesn't get scared or panic. Any ideas? Thanks, any help sppreciated
Tycos_mom
He doesn't understand what you want him todo unless you use some kind of command like step up or upup or even come on lets go you could try giving him a little push with your hand just above his legs on his belly to knock himoff balance a bit and he may step up or you could also try the same thing behind him and he may backup onto your hand but definatly a verbel command works best. rac3r
I tried what you said but no joy. He even started making that baby sound, lowered his wings and was regurgitating his food  When I put my hand near his feet and say 'come on' he just lowers his head covering his feet and walks backwards. Should I put one hand behind and one in front?
Dave007
""""""When I put my hand near his feet and say 'come on' he just lowers his head covering his feet and walks backwards.""""" You need to actually put your fingers against the lowest part of the breast with part of your finger lightly touching the upper part of the foot. Just putting your hand in front of your bird won't accomplish anything if he doesn't wanna come on the finger. You need physical touching and it won't happen overnight. It takes a while for your bird to understand what you're doing. Do it slow, do it easy and keep your hand there and talk to him.

Post edited by: Dave007, at: 2009/05/05 19:
