LunaBaby
I NEVER thought I was a bird person.. I have a zoo but never even thought about having a bird. That is until I met Lucy, the Mexican Red Headed Amazon! A friend of mine, knowing the animal lover that I am, started construction on her house and was pretty much living out of her basement. Being that parrots have such sensitive respiratory she wanted to relocate Lucy for the duration and guess where Lucy ended up? lol Needless to say, I ended up with Lucy for what I thought would be a couple of months but ended up being about a year and a half! I fell in love . She went back after construction but my friends were so busy and Lucy seemed depressed because she was used to all my attention.. they started planning a wedding and were never home, so I ended up with her again. But now they took her back and I have been so lonely. I tried getting them to give her to me.. what the heck does it hurt to ask? But it didn't work Now I have Luna, because I knew I'd never be ok without a parrot, and I love her to pieces but I miss my Lucy!! Here is a pic I took of her gnawing on a toy, she's so gorgeous. Thanks to Lucy I have joined the wonderful world of parrots and I'm never going back!

Post edited by: LunaBaby, at: 2007/06/25 01:

Tari
I must say I commend your friend for keeping her inspite of times she can't give her the best. And your the sweetest to help her keep her pet. Most people say "oh got to build a house the bird has to go' or "Im getting married bird has to go." Or "having a kid bird has got to go." Personally I belive none of those are good reasons to give up your bird. When my mother got sick and I had to stay out of town for most of three months and then when she got back I spend a lot of time at her house or in the hosipat with her I never once thought of giving up my birds. Got a friend that had to move and her birds were outside for almost two years. But they are still with her and she has finally moved into the new house. Your friend is so lucky to have you. Guest
Ey, LunaBaby, that's hard. Being used and loving your pet and then having to give him away (or back). I can understand what you must feel. I had to give my dog away after several years being part of my family because one of the children started to develop an allergy against dogs and cats. Having to do something like that is not easy....
