Wayne's Bottlebrush gyms

Recommended Posts

Okay, have to admit, searched the site, liked the concept... they look like they would be a lot of fun for a parrot... but do they actually work?

Anyone here actually own one of Wayne's bottlebrush gyms? I'd love to order one for Jacko and the lil birds (along with the boing trays and homemade mopani wood gyms i'll be making) and when it's actually an option in the far future try letting my birds live cage free, again, the idea definetly appeals to the naturalist in me.

So, what do you guys think? And, as an after thought... is mopani (alternatively spelled mopane) wood safe for parrots? It is used in aquarium decor and is fish safe (and fish are probably the only critters more sensitive than birds). Plus I believe that it's the kind of wood featured in the bird video 'bird exercise' on bird channel.com.

I have one of his gyms and my parrots ABSOLUTELY love it and I am very pleased with the finished product.{Feel-good-00020114}

On a more important and serious note....

Wayne offers a great product but his "business and organizational skills" are pretty substandard. If you truly wish to purchase one of his creations, I strongly recommend that you consider purchasing it from a retailer like the "Golden Cockatoo".

At the moment he has numerous clients who are feeling extremely frustrated and angry with him because they still haven't received their merchandise and they paid him over 6 months ago. I know someone personally who is still hoping to receive her Gym that she ordered in December 2008. It is extremely poor client experience and I can not imagine myself ever having confidence to purchase directly from him in the future. Purchasing should never be this complicated and stressful. I feel alot of sympathy for the many parrot owners who have already given him their hard earned money only to be left with exasperation, discouragement and no gym. If it weren't for forums like this one most would have no idea that they aren't the only ones having a very poor experience.

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/07/18 16:54

Lovethatgrey, do you know if your friend has recieved there gym yet? Just wondering b/c I too bought a gym in April and have not yet gotten it. I did tell Wayne I was in no rush, but at the same time I don't want to wait 6 months.

Has she tried to call him to speak with him in person? I know on his web page, he explains his financial hardship. I'd much rather just get my gyms ( bought more than one ). Than get my money back. However, I REALLY hope it doesn't take much longer. I feel so bad for your friend. I know he makes great products, it's just to bad this could discourage people from ever buying from him again.

Understanding all the prior issues with Wayne's Parrotstuff, just wanted to let everyone know that we do offer all bottlebrush play gyms, cage perches and toys as the now exclusive reseller of Wayne's items.

If we can not ship within 24 hours then we do not charge your credit card.

Anyone who has lost money with Wayne will be given, as a courtesy, free items (perches, toys, food, etc.). Even though we did not benefit from these transactions, we are happy to try to provide something extra to those of you who never received your original products.
