I am really concerned about my African Grey. I have taken him to the vet and they said everything was fine. The problem is he is abnormally quiet(he talked all the time) and his breathing seems louder, and has had some slight discharge coming from his nose. His appietite is normal and he is drinking water regularely. Does anyone have a clue why he may be acting like this? I have had him for 9 years now and im the only owner he's ever had. I should also mention the vet said his behavior is the way it is because he is going through a molt, which is strange because he has never been like this before.

Many parrots will become quieter when molting. But any noticable breathing problems or unusual sounds plus any nasal discharge warrants a visit to the vet.

I agree with Tycos_mom. Nasal discharge and breathing difficulties are NOT normal molting behavior, and birds often don't show any symptoms at all until they are quite sick. I hope your grey is ok!
