domyoburk
We live in an apartment and now that it's getting warmer and windows are open, someone in an adjacent apartment is whistling to Ursula and teaching her the Mayberry theme! Ursula's getting a little nuts with the whistling, which is much more piercing that her other sounds, but that's not the weird part. She seem to think this other person is part of the flock now. Ursula wants both me and my husband to be up at the same time, sitting next to her, before she really settles into eating her breakfast. Now she won't settle down even then, but continues to call and make like she's going to fly somewhere, like someone's missing. She's starts whistling the Mayberry theme (as far she knows it). Anyone else a bird that's adopted neighbors as part of the flock? Ursula's a year old.
chimaysmommy
That sounds like quite an ordeal each morning, but it's kinda cute! Chimay hasn't adopted any of our neighbors as of yet....in fact he's more than likely going to make enemies as we have a lot of dog-apartments surrounding us and a lot of them bark out of the window thru the day. So we're probably going to wind up with a barking bird at some point when he learns how.
Marauder
"someone in an adjacent apartment is whistling to Ursula and teaching her the Mayberry theme!" Maybe it's Schrodinger, she seems to also like whistling the first little bits of that tune as well... )
judygram
Josey would be hard pressed to hear any of our neighbors so she won't be learning anything from them but I can see your dilemma, at least it isn't cussing.
domyoburk
It is pretty cute, though annoying. Anyone else have parrots that seem so concerned about having the whole flock present, especially first thing in the morning? Seems pretty natural to us... though maybe it's because Ursula is pre-breeding age and isn't fixated on one person?
Luvparrots
Very cute story!!! Ursula will be inviting all the neighbors over for birdy bread and juice drinks any time now so you better be ready!!!!
