Azzie Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 My friend Megan has a sick little lovebird, Millie. Millie has been "off colour" since she was very young, and got progressively worse. She wasn't perching and losing weight in spite of an increased appetite. Millie hung on though, and was taken to various vets. None of them were able to help her, and prescribed various antibiotics and antifungals, with little effect. Yesterday Megan took Millie to the university hospital, and she was diagnosed with avian gastric yeast. In itself this is relatively simple to treat with one specific kind of antifungal, but because Millie is so run down they think she has a secondary bacterial crop infection also. Millie was started on the right medication, but has deteriorated rapidly overnight. She is now in an incubator, with oxygen as she is struggling to breathe. It is unlikely she will make it through the night. Please people, spare a thought and a prayer for little Milie <3

Post edited by: Azzie, at: 2009/04/23 09:05
