Eckobird
Hi Christina, thanks for your interests! Yes she is doing a lot better and she is starting to show her cute little personality. She steps up to my mom and I now very good without screaming or running away but when we go to pet her she screams. I'm thinking her pin feathers still hurt her. She is still a little scared like when she is perching on my finger and she sees something move she flinches and looks around really fast. She loves to play with her toys and she loves to chirp. She chirps and whistles more than my 14 week old grey does. She is still on 3 feedings a day and will not touch the pellets or fruits and veggies we offer her. I don't know why, she won't even taste it. She sure likes her formula though and it seems like she is going to be on it forever. Any suggestions are appreciated to get her to start eating pellets. judygram
She sure is getting prettier by the day, I can't wait to see how she will look when fully feathered and all grown up. Poor dear, she is still a little scared but she will get over that in time, I can't wait to see how her personality comes out for I have considered getting one if I do ever get another bird. I wouldn't worry too much at this point about her eating her pellets, she is just not ready to give up her formula yet but she will when she is good and ready. Thanks for sharing another pic with us and I look forward to seeing more and hearing more about Mango.

lovethatgrey
Congratulations on Mango! She is adorable looking. Some babies will be nervous and fearful no matter how much handling/attention they received by the breeder. I don't think that there is any simple explanation. You didn't meet her before you purchased her? Anyway, If the avian vet stamped her healthy then that's a very good sign and a great start in life for her. She's just going to need a lot more patience and reassurance from you.. but I'm sure you'll do fine! You are willing, motivated and you have a big heart! So... how many parrots do you have now?B)
SunnyBird
It seems that the grey personality really is quite different than the caique, eh? I guess you are on a learning curve too, right now :-) Also, the smaller the bird, the more nervous it is by nature, no? Mango is getting really pretty now. Thanks for the new photo. {Feel-good-000200BB}
Eckobird
This is how Mango was sleeping today. I couldn't believe she was sleeping in her little hut. There is two of them in her cage and I think she just figured them out because she fell asleep at different times in both of them, SOO cute! This is definitely one of her cute personality traits.

Post edited by: caitb2007, at: 2009/05/17 00:

Eckobird
Thanks Ann Marie! She is such a cutie with a lot of personality. I just learned that Caiques do this thing called "surfing", where they rub on people or objects. I saw videos and its so cute. Also they do a jumpstyle that is kind of like a bunny hop! I really can't wait til she does that. I found this video of what I'm talking about and it the cutest thing EVER! edited by: caitb2007, at: 2009/05/21 22:
