judygram
Hello Jon and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your new grey. So you are new to birds, I guess you have heard that a grey is not really the best first bird but if you do your research to know what a grey requires to keep them happy and healthy then it may work out for you. Greys are not like a lot of other parrots, they need a certain amount of daily contact with their owners and a good amount of out of cage time to be well adjusted in their new homes. You cannot stick them in a cage with food and water and expect them to be satisfied with just that, they need attention from their flock members, toys to stimulate them to play and foraging opportunities or they will get bored and develop unwanted behaviors. I want you to be sure a grey is the right bird for you, that one will fit in with your lifestyle and that you know what you have to do to keep one happy and healthy. I am not trying to be negative here but want you to be aware of some things as this is not just a whim, you are about to undertake a lifetime committment, we want you to be sure before you actually take home that grey for then it is too late. We have seen too many end up in rescues and in need of being rehomed when people got one on a whim and then found out they needed things they couldn't provide on a daily basis and that the bird bit them and other behaviors they couldn't cope with so all I am asking is you be sure about this and if you are after finding out everything then congrats for you have selected an awesome creature. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do browse thru them and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
