New behavior

Chimay's coming up on 5 months old, and just yesterday he started a new behavior that had me a little puzzled...not worried, just puzzled. I returned home from work and started our "basket time" where I put him on his basket and talk to him and let him play, and when I went in for a beak rub he kind of squatted down and started bobbing his head as if he was feeding. I know he wasn't regurgitating, nothing came up and I'm figuring he's too young for that anyway. And I know he wasn't hungry because he had just downed some birdie bread with broccoli. Any thoughts on why he would be doing this? He kind of squatted down with his head straight up, and his wings out just slightly.

Other than this new feeding-bobbing maneuver, he isn't acting like he's sick...playing normally and his appetite is as strong as ever.

Jane, young Cleo does the same. She's now 14 weeks old and was hand reared. I thought she was "reliving" her baby feeding times, as she only does it when my fingers are near her beak. She'll grab a finger and put it far back into her mouth, crouch down and do a rapid jack hammer type thing with her head. Am I mistaken about this, and is she really telling me she <3 's me?

Azzie, if Cleo is jack hammering like trying to regurgitate and has the wings dropped and out a bit then yes she is also doing the I love you dance. I haven't experienced the grabbing of the finger into the mouth though, but when I think about it Kea does put her beak right down Rangi's throat when they are doing the dance. They can also make like a wheezing/whimpering noise when they are doing the dance.
