Poop

Not a great title I know but I'm carrying on feeding my grey the baby sweet potatoes by hand as the breeder had been with all the baby greys he breeds, but this seems to cause VERY runny poop, almost a puddle of pee and a tiny bit of poop, I mean there is a lot of it all and he does it a lot too, kinda worries me a little. Sometimes he has a solid poop but most of the time is like water with tiny bits of poop in it.

Is this a bad thing? I have bought and are now trying as of tonight feeding him the proper baby food. He always gets dry pellets and fruit and veg through the day.

BTW he is around 14-15 weeks now.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there.. first off thanks for joining.. I hope you enjoy this place as much as I have...

I think you should call the breeder and see if this is what is to be expected. Runny poop is not really a good sign but at this age and on that diet it may be normal.. If the breeder has him on this food he will know what is normal and what is not..

yes I agree with CD, you should check with the breeder on this one. i think you are doing the right thing by switching to proper baby food, i can't imagine a diet of sweet potatoes is particularly good for them.

Baby_grey, welcome here :) I'm happy you joined us.

Watery 'poop' is usually an increase in the amount of urine - and often confused with 'diarrhea'. It can be caused by feeding your grey watery vegetables for example. I think potatoes are quite watery? So, that could be the answer. However, to make sure, I agree with Beccy and CeasarsDad and ask the breeder.

I would guess if he is eating a lot of fresh vegetables that would account for runny poops as veggies are mostly water anyway. But the breeder would have good information and advice so I would listen to him. A gram scale would be advisable to have to keep check on the weight. Thats good he enjoys veggies most of us have trouble getting our greys to eat their veggies.
