Tycos_mom Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 My baby Grey is a messy eater and allot of time gets quit a bit of formula on his/her feathers. I was wondering if its ok to use natural non sented baby wipes to clean him up with.
she Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I am not sure Pat, but to be on the safe side I would just use a clean cloth with just water to clean the baby up.Sorry I cant help more.
Dave007 Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 She is right. The most common thing to use is plain old water which will take just about anything off feathers. All dirt that parrots get in the wild is washed away with water.
lovethatgrey Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I would wet a wash cloth in warm water and wipe him off that way. I wouldn't use any type of wetnap.
ranaz Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 yeah water is the best and it would just moisturize their feathers... Also you can use the Alloe vera spray and wipe with a clean towel afterwards... {Nature-00020095}{Nature-00020095}

Post edited by: ranaz, at: 2009/04/05 17:37
Tycos_mom Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 The natural unsented baby wipes have aloe vera in them but I have never had a problem with plucking or dry skin with any of my birds so I don't use aloe vera on them When I bath them its in pure spring water because where I live thats what come out of my taps. No city water for my birds.
cflanny Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 You know I saw once, if you take a paper towel and put a hole in the center you can slip it over babys head while feading and it will catch alot of gunk, also starts a little training to get ready for harness .
Tycos_mom Posted April 7, 2009 Author Posted April 7, 2009 That is such a good Idea thankyou I think I'll try that Shady is the messiest eater I've ever seen. I fill the shringe to 60cc and He loses at least 20cc everytime and to get that off his feathers is not fun for him/her or me. thankyou again for the suggestion and Shady say thanx also.
Luvparrots Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 That is a great idea, Cindy!!! Let us know how the Shady's feedings go with a bib, Pat!!!
