neruda074
Hello. My 4 month old CAG seems to like to poop a lot when I take her out of her cage first thing in the morning and as soon as I get home from work around 6 p.m. I'm worried that she's holding it in at night and all day. Although I see droppings in her cage I'm not sure how often she's going. Should I be concerned?
Talon
That is perfectly normal!! A lot of birds do that, both of mine do, they hold it in, they don't want to dirty their house! In fact, I take them over to their "potty basket" and they poop there! So don't worry! neruda074
Ah! Ok. Makes sense. I got to try and teach her to use a potty basket.
judygram
Greys do hold it all night, that is why there is that big bomb in the morning and some don't like to soil their cage so they hold it during the day until someone comes home and lets them out, then they drop it right off, what a relief it must be. My Josey is not so finicky about her cage, she dumps in it.
Tycos_mom
I have a couple birds that absolutly refuse to poop in their cages I have them out most of the day so its not a problem but On the nights I work they do hold a bit longer than normal
judygram
I'm sorta glad that Josey does not hold her poops until I get home to let her out for one day I might be late coming home and she will suffer from trying to hold it. She does usually drop hers in several designated spots in the cage.
oppie
Spencer holds it overnight, and goes a minute or two after we get him out of his "bed" :silly:
