Azzie
12 week old Cleo makes little quacking and clucking noises at me when I stand near her. She sounds more like a duck or a chicken when she does that, and I am unsure what she is trying to tell me. Are these just baby noises? She's also fully weaned, but at times she will put her head back and open her beak so wide I can see all the pink insides of her mouth. Is she asking to be fed? Eckobird
Yes those are baby noises. Aren't they so cute? lol My baby makes the same noises and everytime I talk to him he gets louder and makes more noise. I think its the cutest sounds ever. If your baby is eating her pellets and fruits and veggies etc. then she shouldn't be hungry, its just something she is use to doing. You should weigh her everyday to make sure she is gaining weight and eating enough. Did your breeder tell you that she is fully weaned? They usually wean 12-16 weeks so yours must have weaned fast. Just make sure she is eating alot.
Azzie
Ah thank you for that! I speak lorikeet very well, but very little AG. And yes, it's very cute, especially when she makes those noises and looks at me with her dark liquid eyes. It makes me melt! The breeder did tell me she is fully weaned, and she does eat her pellets, seeds, apple and corn, but is not keen on anything else I've offered her so far. I'm guessing it's because some of the other items are new to her with an unfamiliar taste. And maybe she just doesn't like some things, just like we have our likes and dislikes. Cleo has been home with me for 2 days, and has already started copying some of the lorikeet chirps! What a hoot!
Eckobird
How cute! I can't wait til my baby starts to mimic things. He is only 8 weeks so all I hear are baby noises lol.
Tycos_mom
My baby just loves to sitnand stare at me and make all kinds of baby noises Its so sweet makes me want to just sqeeze him/her  if your baby is putting her head back and opening her mouth she is asking for food. are you sure she is getting enough shes very young you might want to try some warm oat meal with applesause or something like that from a spoon its just a little comfort food mabie just before bed to make sure she has a full crop to sleep on
Azzie
She eats a lot during the day, but I like the sound of something warm and nutritious before bed time. Thanks!
Gismosmomma09
Hello, i play Alot of music in my home and tonight when hootie and the blowfish came on Gismo started makeing these really weird noises. and then would stop for a minute while i sang and then he would join in. like he was singing with me.. and then he closed his eyes for a while and made noises then too. to describe them a little bit its like he seemed to be trying to talk his throat would go up and down and it would be throaty noises and little squeeks, and some sort of like gasps.. any thoughts guys. it would be really cool if he was singing to me but i highly dought thats the case since hes only 7 weeks old. but i just wanted to know if anyone else is having this experience. thanks Kym & Gismo
greystar
Hi there, i am facing the same thing with my Star, who is only 6 months old. I have had him for about 6 days now. He makes small short cries but i am trying my best to understand him. I sometimes come near his cage to assure him its ok , touch him, play with his toys ..but he still keeps on with his calls. Believe it or not even when he is eating, i recorded his cries as he was eating and uploaded them here, are these sounds normal in babies? However when he was left alone in a room he became so quiet and calm, but the moment i went to see him, he started again.... i feel so down not knowing what he wants, I really need to know that he is ok and all baby grays do this. thanks
Luvparrots
If your baby's isn't hungry then the noises are probably a need for attention. My Ana Grey, a one-year old, still clucks and chirps occasionally if she wants attention. She does this especially if I am in the room. I either let her out of her cage or just talk to her and she stops.
JillyBeanz
Basically our babies are shouting "Hey, it's all about me". Harvey's such an attention seeker - I swear I thought I did have a duck in the house once because I was ignoring him and trying to concentrate on ordering something! I suppose it's a bit like kids - they talk absolute rubbish for a bit and they seem to understand it fully! Just nod your head and agree with Cleo - she'll think you can speak birdie!!
