lovethatgrey
I don't know much about cockatiels except that they are very cute and can have quite the personality.. but I am part of another forum and several of the other members have cockatiels and some have even bred cockatiels too. They are very friendly and I know they'd be glad to provide helpful advice. Lyric
Perhaps he's feeling resentment or jealousy?? You might try moving the plant to a different room- maybe he likes the excitement of you getting him off of it. I used to have tiels and they can get resentful if they don't feel they are getting the amount of attention they are used to. Try giving him more one-on-one time- if you have to, take him to a different room he's not used to. Keep patient and don't give up.
Tycos_mom
It sounds to me like he's just going through a bit of a hormonal stage He hasn't got a mate and mabie that plant is helping him with his frustrations I used to have a love bird that had a rooled up pair of socks that he used as his mate it was very funny but it kept him happy and friendly. Azzie
That could well be it. One of my very sweet lorikeets turned into a terrible little monster that was all beak and sharp claws when he had his first moult. I just ended up giving him an egg and biscuit mix, and a vitamin and mineral supplement to help him through it. Once he finished moulting he was back to his sweet usual self. I guess it is a bit like teething. All those sharp prickly feathers growing through the skin.
she
My tiel is 2 years old now and he has always been a little monster, he does exactley what your tiel does with the plant only he does it with anything. If I try to remove him from something he makes his feelings very clear. It is not just moulting that causes Crackers bad behaviour,I think he is spoilt plain and simple. My tiel is a fantastic little bird but twice the trouble as my grey.I love him for it though. PitSoulja
favorite treats are keys to that one. reward when they come to you. I had a sun conure that used to climb up the chain to my ceiling fan and had to turn the fans off. of course by the time be got to the ceiling and to the ceiling fan he'd just hand there by one foot upside down. which was very entertaining even better was when he did it with a peanut and ate it upside down that was unique.
